FYI re. general offers: I was in correspondence with the financial aid office last week about some supplemental documents, and the person I spoke to said not to expect an offer this week, because it's spring break. He sounded pretty sure that a big wave will go out next week!

For people who have submitted appeals:
Does your status on the 'My Status' tab of the financial aid website reflect that your appeal was received?

Mine does not - my appeal doesn't even appear on the "My Status" tab. Submitted my info two days ago, appealed last week.

I just got the AnBryce ding. Which I had figured since the interviews are like next week. Glad I can finally get a decision on aid soon.

Checking in. Looking for some opinions on when I should submit the merit-based only financial aid form. I'm in the process of filling it out and there's a section that asks for what other schools I've been admitted to and am seriously considering. NYU is actually the first T-14 school I've been accepted to (had all my apps held until my feb lsat score came out), and I'm still waiting on the rest of the T-14. Other than NYU, I'm in at UCLA, USC, and WashU. I'm wondering if I should wait until I get another T-14 acceptance before filling out this form (pretty much to have some bit of leverage and persuade them to give me some amount of scholarship). Or is it smarter to just put down UCLA/USC and submit the form sooner rather than later?

Thanks! Really want to end up at NYU but just need a bit of $ from them.

You have to schedule flights yourself, and then after the interview submit receipts for reimbursement (up to $500)

thanks so theyve already booked us hotels right? and whats included in the reimbursement just airfare or everything? thanks!

When I spoke to them last month they told me they reserved a limited number of hotel rooms for RTK interviewees, but that we needed to let them know ASAP.

I assume the rest of the $500 would go towards booking your own hotel room - but not entirely sure on that.

I'm assuming that several other people received (pretty much boilerplate) emails from professors in their areas of interest, asking that they reach out if they have any questions or want more information.

Did anybody respond? And if so, did the professor get back to you? I responded to mine a few weeks ago, and I never heard anything back. I'm not super upset about it, it just seems strange for a professor to agree to contact a student and then not answer when the student takes them up on their offer.

I did not even get any sort of email from a professor.

That's why they tell you not to assume, I suppose. Sorry. :(

No one has received a decision on an appeal yet, right?

I did. I actually reached out first and got a boilerplatish response. I then replied with a few questions and got a really detailed and useful set of responses

Got one of these a while ago, but I didn't reply. Was very busy/didn't have questions I didn't think I'd get a better, more candid answer to at ASW, so I didn't ever reply.

Does anyone know if the scholarship appeal process at NYU is similar to say Chicago where they wait until x to get them, and then evaluate all offers to be reevaluated over a week period. Or if it is done on a more rolling basis and I could expect a response at any point.

Especially concerned with it possibly being the former since I really wanted a renegotiated NYU offer to bring back to Chicago if nothing else.

After you've applied for merit aid, how does NYU inform you of its decision? Is it somewhere on the accepted students website, or do they email you the decision?

There's a financial aid website. But I believe they let you know when your decision is ready via email.

I always forget the website address, but if you do a forum search for "faaps" you'll find it.

ETA: Oops. Scooped and I didn't even notice.

I need to submit my financial aid stuff. Tomorrow.

Also, I emailed requesting a travel stipend for ASD.

They emailed telling me that the student of color organization could perhaps provide a "modest" stipend. We will see how it goes.

Checking in! :D Trying to make the April ASW work, though I think my airline might shoot me for changing my flights yet again... there's no subsidy, right?

Can anyone shed light on whether they are looking for brevity (love NYU but have X money at School Y) or more flushed out, "Why NYU"-type explanations in financial aid appeals? Thanks in advance!
