Thoughts on whether we'll start to get some non-named scholarship notices this week?

Is it about time based on previous timelines?pylon wrote:Thoughts on whether we'll start to get some non-named scholarship notices this week?

Yeahh, I think so. The OP says mid-February, so I quickly skimmed last years thread around that time - Feb 7th-10th is when they were announced.Mack.Hambleton wrote:Is it about time based on previous timelines?pylon wrote:Thoughts on whether we'll start to get some non-named scholarship notices this week?

NYU has stayed pretty true to its historical timelines this cycle, so maybe? I hope so?pylon wrote:Yeahh, I think so. Also thinking about it. Really don't want to deal with the hassle of having to leave work early. But I'm willing to go if it materially improves my chances of a Furman, which may be possible if I can catch the Dean's ear and leave an impression. I'm 50/50 on going to the luncheon at this point.alloverthat wrote:Hey - yeah was thinking about it. Hey c/o 2018! Congrats on getting in. I'm a 1L Root. If you have questions, especially about the interview and RTK in general, go ahead and PM me. Hope to see a lot of y'all in March!

Did anyone get an email from a professor in an area that you expressed interest on your application? I got one last Friday. Seems pretty general, but I figured I'd ask.

Crap, I did like two weeks ago or something, and... forgot about it until just now.tonysoprano wrote:Did anyone get an email from a professor in an area that you expressed interest on your application? I got one last Friday. Seems pretty general, but I figured I'd ask.

Yep, also got one a while ago, meant to reply, and didn't. This is the problem with using my phone to screen what I need to deal with right away and what can wait. The latter group ends up waiting forever.middlebear wrote:Crap, I did like two weeks ago or something, and... forgot about it until just now.tonysoprano wrote:Did anyone get an email from a professor in an area that you expressed interest on your application? Did anyone else just get what seemed to be a not-quite an invitation to apply for ASPIRE program?

Anyone consider emailing Zach back to find out if that is supposed to be an invitation to apply or not.
I should add that the email was especially odd to me because the ASPIRE program is unavailable to internationals like myself.

Unrelated to ASPIRE... is there reimbursement available for ASW travel, and if so, any requirements/limitations on it?

QFNP, hope that helps you middlebear!tonysoprano wrote:I called and they said it's need-based and that you have to file the NA to be considered. I believe they may have also said you have to contact their office to let them know you're interested in obtaining a travel stipend after you've filed NA. I'm not 100% on that second part, but I can't imagine it would hurt to show interest if they're going to be looking at your finances anyways.ChemEng1642 wrote:Just bought my flight and registered for the March ASW - hope to see some of you there!
Will probably be asking them about a travel stipend soon - will report back here unless someone already has that info!

Someone over in the applicants thread reported getting an RTK finalist email. Did anyone else get that?

By my count, there have been three reported RTK invites. I believe they come via phone call unless you are international.slurpy wrote:Someone over in the applicants thread reported getting an RTK finalist email. Did anyone else get that?

Someone ITT reported that they weren't able to register using Chrome, but that it worked using Firefox.
So maybe try a different browser?
