Both Ratner and Crown are really solid. Since they're used by the University athletes (lol) they're pretty well stocked. Ratner has 4 power racks w/ platforms. 4 additional racks usually used for benching, but you can squat or press there if needed. Dbs go up to 120.

Thanks, Mal and skers. It's nice to know that they're pretty good. I've heard that some smaller schools can be downright terrible in that regard.

"well, yeah, that's great, but we're all only here for the firms and that's what CLS is really good at." It felt weirdly like the school was trying to trick us in the door? Though I had some great conversations with professors/staff.
Historically I think Chicago has shared the first part of this--big law is what it's good at, too--and currently there's probably something of the second part in play as both schools try to shift their images. But I think it's pretty genuine at UofC. Everybody raves about Dean Schill and Susan Curry, and the Public Interest Law Society seems really committed to being a support group as well as a haven of social justice chats (and doing a lot of substantive stuff besides this, obviously).

But the real plus of Chicago is that there are so many public-interest-oriented TLSers going here...

Who else received an email from a faculty member ("I have been chosen as your faculty contact person")?

I got an email from a faculty member, though not a current student.

I got one from a current student. Still a classy move considering I EDed and they don't need to sell me on the school.

Is the faculty member the same or different than the guy who emailed basically with his bio and is teaching Elements next year? I thought that read like an everyone email blast, and he didn't say anything contact person-y, but…

Wow, ok, just kidding! I thought it was a random blast to everyone, guess I should reply to that.

Ya I got an email as well. Not from that same professor but from one that matches interests I expressed in my personal statement. If they were batch emails, it was in small directed groups

I got an email from a current student and a prof. The prof isn't really in my field of interest, so I thought maybe it was a mass email. Guess not, though.

I've emailed a few and they all took a while to get back to me. I can't complain 'cause I'm sure they have more important stuff going on and I can be really bad about getting back to people myself.

Something came up so unfortunately won't be making the ASW. Hope y'all have a good time, though!

In other news, has anybody heard anything about Doctoroff? I'm guessing that I probably didn't get an interview since it's been this long without hearing a thing, but I haven't seen anything on here about it.

I will be there with a car on Saturday but I'm confused, do you need to be picked up at 7 or 11 am?

Friday looks like the day to be there- sit in on a class, student lunch panel, and the Chicago's Best Ideas thing where we will presumably be given Chicago dogs
