Trying to negotiate before my penn deadline tomorrow

Called yesterday, said they were out of the office and would call me back. Didn't call

Called again today, said they were out of the office again and said they would call. Didn't call

Also left voicemail yesterday to a guy I had talked to previously and haven't heard anything,

Why

Sounds like my experience with Penn.

I was also trying to negotiate before Penn's deadline. I tried calling earlier today but wasn't able to reach anyone either. I emailed the main Financial Aid address and the person who responded told me they were currently reviewing appeals but she couldn't say whether she thought I would get a response before tomorrow. :(

Whoa. Did you guys see that Dean Schill is out?

Totally bummed that oregon didn't announce this in advance of ASW. Would have wanted to hear Chicago's plan for the future without Dean Schill--who has done a phenomenal job as dean.

I'm definitely disappointed that they couldn't get back to me in time for today's deadline at Penn seeing as I also submitted by appeal a month ago. I ended up withdrawing at Penn, but best of luck at Penn if that's where you're headed!

I raised the same concern in the current student thread. But I guess this is common practice for many schools, so whatever.

Has anyone else committed recently? Other than myself and PariSiamo, who all is headed to Chicago?

I was bummed too, but i've talked to a lot of people who don't think it's a huge deal. A lot of Dean Schill's projects have already put been put in place/came with a ton of faculty support anyway.

Also average LS dean tenure is like 3.5 yrs. Maybe they will bring in someone similarly cool; it's a plush spot.

Yes most deanships are just stepping stones to better positions e.g. presidencies.

Admits, you have a high standard to live up to! Just got this in the mail from the two wonderful admits who stayed with Jaqen and I over the weekend. Yes, the cats came in the gift box too.

They officially get the best admit ever awards.

Edit: Wanted to add, you are not expected to do this, so don't rush out to buy your hosts a gift basket. I just wanted to post because it was such a nice surprise and very thoughtful :)

Sort of. Northwestern gave me a perfectly great offer, but stopped short of making it rain. I'm hoping for bumps from both, although IDK.

I know a solid handful of people who got good-not-great offers at Chicago and are choosing ridiculous offers at Northwestern instead. Maybe if enough of that happens, we'll get some movement from U Chi?

I'm honestly leaning towards NW myself, but can't pull the trigger.

Uhh yeah you'll have to deposit to keep your scholarship or get an extension. Also probably not a good idea to say you don't plan on going there.

There's a scholarship reconsideration form you submit, and they require you to upload a copy of the other school's scholarship offer.

We're not on the same page in the sense that you don't understand at all. If you're already withdrawn from the school youre shit out of luck-you cant use that as a bargaining chip anymore. Also they likely read this thread so you're plan is probably done for.

Right - but do schools know if you withdrawn from a different school? I know they can see where you put deposits after May 15th or something like that, but not sure if they can see if/when you withdrawn from other schools...
