I remember reading that they have a table at ASW where you can fill out the paperwork. I'd double check on the admitted students website though. Hope you can make it!

If it's pretty much guaranteed, it'd be awesome. I'm a teacher, so it's not a wonderful salary. I don't just have $400 lying around to make a trip to a law school... If they guarantee the reimbursement, I could fly out to the Oakland airport for ~$420 roundtrip.

It sounds like, on a very limited basis, they're able to give you the money upfront, but you need to get in touch ASAP and make a strong case for it. Otherwise it might be prudent to RSVP and select the box that says you want to be reimbursed. In addition, I think there's a cap for the reimbursement, so you may not get the full $420 back. :?

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone here is attending the interviews for the Berkeley Law Opportunity Scholarship or knows anything about them? And congrats to everyone on getting in

Has anyone found any apartments near campus (preferably walking distance) with 1 bd/bath for <$2000? I've been doing some research but all the apartments I've found are pretty far from campus or aren't particularly nice (e.g. Manville).

To be fair, this is probably a pretty bad time to be looking. If it's anything like the housing market near my UG, leases all expire in either May/June when the semester ends for the 9 month leases, or in August for the year-long leases.

That said, I definitely can't afford to live alone off-campus at these prices and I'm not coming with a spouse, so I'm not sure what I'll be doing. Either springing for grad student housing (which is still expensive) or risking my fortune on a CraigsList roommate, I guess? :|

Berkeley has an in-house Facebook page on the admitted students site where people can indicate if they are looking for a roommate. It looks like there's also some CalRentals portal for listings - more info here: http://www.law.berkeley.edu/php-program ... hp?id=6356

Agreed that I don't think it's a great time to be looking, and $2,000 seems steep - I would expect a 1br to be more in the $1,300-$1,800 range (but still probably not affordable for a law student on their own).

Hey has anyone had any success with the scholarship matching program yet? And if so did you include a statement with your request? I'm about to fill my form out and was wondering if anyone has had success. Thanks!

I don't think they've made any scholarship offers yet, matching or otherwise.

This would be a first time experience... What kind of attire would one have to take to ASW?? Ugh...

Don't overthink it. No need for suits or formal attire, probably would avoid dressing like a slob also. More or less wearing what I would on weekends when I go out to eat rather than club, if that makes sense.

At the GULC one, many people had on business casual or formal. A few were very casual with jeans, but they had on a nice sweater or button down. I saw no one in sneakers or tshirts. But this is Berkeley and I have no idea how WC style standards compare to the East.

True, it may vary by school. This is last year's Admit Day on Boalt's Flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/photos/29370912@ ... 553344402/

Looks pretty laid back.

Yeah on the admitted students website it says "Our Admit Weekend program will begin with lunch on Thursday, March 12, at the School. Substantive and social activities are planned throughout the weekend. There will be presentations by students, faculty, and the financial aid office. You will have opportunities to meet members of student organizations and journals and to learn more about of our clinical and curricular concentration programs. Attire for all events is casual."

Hey guys, question/thoughts: Do you think that there will be a difference in scholarship awards between people accepted off faculty review and those admitted by Dean Tom?
