Has anybody who sent a scholarship negotiation email ~10 days ago heard back?

Did anyone do one of those financial aid appointments at ASW and get an increase? If so have you gotten something in writing yet? Not sure when to expect an email...

I sent an email on the 9th, they asked for additional information on the 14th, and nothing since then. I plan on calling tomorrow to ask for an ETA.

Sent mine 2 weeks ago, sent a message asking for confirmation and was asked to send some additional material 1 week ago, and now still stuck in limbo. I guess I'll call too.

Has everyone who's waiting sent seat deposits already?

Anyone know how / when travel subsidies are (were?) distributed for last weekend's ASD?

Side note - good luck to everyone still negotiating!

Yeah it was a Bank of America prepaid card inside an envelope in your binder.

Update: Called and I was basically told to call again if I still hadn't heard in a few days.

I'm starting to worry about the potential size of the 2018 class because of that, but maybe I'm just being paranoid.

cornell gave me my biggest initial offer, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who happily used it as leverage elsewhere

Is it me or is Cornell everyone's best offer? Do they just have way more money? They also seem more willing to up offers. Meanwhile, Michigan keeps hitting me with snubby, "You don't qualify for more aid, sorry" emails.

I don't think that term means what you think it means.

But to answer your question, Cornell's admissions and financial aid seems to know what's up. Money talks. I have no idea why Michigan is less willing to negotiate. Probably because Michigan thinks they are a better school than they actually are.

And also, Ithaca is really not that bad at all. The weather might not be great, but the town itself is perfectly fine.

I doubt it will be a problem. Cornell seems to really care about keeping its class sizes small. I think they know what they are doing.

Realistically, the fact that the new Dean is pushing increased scholarships is a good thing for everyone attending; it means high scorers are much more likely to deposit and attend, and as long as US News keeps being important (for better or worse), the stats of the incoming class play a huge role in rankings. If all of this money being thrown around increases the medians/75ths, everyone who attends stands to benefit.

I've gotta say, all of the scholarships, coupled with the recent employment data, makes me think that by the time we graduate, we might be doing so from a 9th or 10th ranked school instead of a 13th. Speculation, of course -- but from my conversation with admissions last week, that's definitely the new Dean's goal.

I keep hearing this and it's a huge motivation for me to attend. The admissions people practically gushed over him, and I keep hearing that he's a brilliant, completely unpretentious guy. Sounds like a win.

It seems he will also be teaching one of the Property classes next year. Jealous of whichever section gets him.

FWIW, when I was at the Chicago ASW, I don't think I met one other person who was planning on attending Cornell and I assume a decent number of them got good scholarship offers at Cornell. To be honest, a couple of people practically scoffed at the notion that I was planning on attending Cornell. A lot of the people I met were going to attend the best school that they got into, which meant Chicago/Columbia/NYU with the minimal scholarships that they got. I think that the average person who comes onto TLS is more debt-conscious than the average law applicant. I feel that most people simply go to the best school that they got into.

Is 150k the max offer so far?

Just a question, has anyone successfully negotiated a scholarship increase from 150k? I don't really have much to negotiate with except some 1/3 tuition schollys at Chicago/NYU.
