I've heard that all of Cornell's merit-aid decisions are linked to financial need. So, if you had, say, a 172/4.0, but no financial need, would Cornell not be able to provide full tuition scholarships?

Sorry for my ignorance.

Seems highly unlikely to me, nor have I heard that anywhere.

Sure you're not thinking of columbia? (they claim something along those lines)

Yeah, this is definitely incorrect.

Also, checking in. Accepted about two weeks ago

Anxiously awaiting my $$ award. Unfortunately, things look rather bleak for us 3.6Xs

Not sure how they'd be inflated unless you mean the score could include contract attorneys, but I'm not aware of any current students or recent grads doing that. Over half my class definitely has summer associate positions at V100 / NLJ 250 / whatever.

Depends on you. Hughes=much cheaper. CT Terrace is like 1600 for 1 bd (studios less, but they will go ultra fast) whereas it's prob 500 cheaper at hughes. That being said, you won't have to share a kitchen with dozens of people at Terrace, will have an on site gym that is part of rent (you have to pay for gym at Cornell if you are in hughes I believe), and is a lot nicer and newer. There's also a shuttle up the hill to the law school and you'll have a little distance from all the madness if you need it. There is def a premium though. If you are debt financing sticker, I probably wouldn't go with Hughes. If you have plenty of money or lots of scholarship maybe consider aging a little more for the comfort and conveniences of Terrace for 1L and see if you can find something in between for 2L and 3Lol.

Btw, CT Terrace 2 bd are much cheaper and quite nice. I think they are going for about $1000

1000$ per person ?
On that note

Is it pretty difficult to find roommates before even starting?

Just got 10k/year for a total of 30,000 for a 167/3.69. Looks like I will be "taking my talents" elsewhere... :-(

You definitely can and should negotiate with them!!! you are at/above both medians, so I'm sure they would play ball to try and lock you in, since you are a perfect median packing candidate. What are your other offers?

I will definitely try! currently have 122k from UT, 60k from Vandy and am waiting for GULC... also have other 105k offers from T20s, but don't think those will count much though...

Nah. On the Facebook group, especially in April/May/June, you'll start seeing people looking for roommates and such. That's how I found my roommates.

105k total. Not sure what I expected, but I guess I'm happy with what I got. Now unless something completely unexpected happens, looks like I'll be heading to Ithaca in the fall.

Google. Call the office. They will help you get started and are pretty helpful and responsive.

To just add on (I don't live in CT Terrace or Hughes btw)

A lot of your classmates will end up in either CT Terrace or Hughes, but if you are looking for affordability (under $1,000), there are certainly other options that are close to the law school in CTown that are solid options (read: not slum houses). As Trippel said, CT Terrace is solid if you want a real comfy set up, but you'll have to shell out $$$. If money isn't an issue (whatever the reason) I'd certainly recommend it for the amenities and convenience. Otherwise a simple craigslist search will yield some solid and affordable options.

Edit: I'm working procrastinating on my memo, so feel free to shoot any questions you may have at my general direction.

Appreciated! I got a sizeable offer from Cornell so I wouldn't mind paying a bit more at least until I'm accustomed to the area. I've never been to the Ithaca area (or much of the east coast, for that matter)

60k in tuition doesn't even get us a measly gym membership, that's good to know haha

Congrats! See you there!

Edit: but pacers though? lol

Thanks. I'm going to the ASW in April, so maybe I'll see you there. And yeah, Pacers till I die lol. I'm assuming you like Hawks? I live near Atlanta.

Can someone comment on the environment from CT Terrace? Is there still massive construction going on? I read something somewhere (can't remember) and someone posted about how terrible it was, loud construction 7 am -7 pm, a bunch of other horrible stuff, and so on and so forth. The person basically said never to live there haha..
