Lol, they do seem to try to make the process as stressful as possible. . .

Yeah lol - I was on Central Time so it wasn't awful for me but I feel really bad for the people on Pacific time...

I was on my refresh game though so I got the apartment I wanted 8)

Congrats! It certainly feels good to get things settled at this point.

Yes definitely! :)

So do most of y'all have housing confirmed at this point?

I'm sure HLS will send some information soon, but what sort of options are left available if I'm looking to live on campus (but also don't have a lottery window)?

IIRC, the housing info was one of the first things HLS emailed to us after admission, but it did take quite a few days. Sit tight and I bet someone will be in contact with you! Or if you're neurotic like me, shoot an email to housing@law.harvard.edu.

Thanks wonka for all this detail, it's very helpful! I have to look into the specifics of each, but ideally I'd like the on-campus Law School dorm housing - which I guess works out because it looks like that might be all that's available!

Are all of the dorms subject to the crazy restrictions on what tenants can have (microwaves, stoves, etc.) and force you to rent one of those P.O.S. "microfridges" or whatever they're called, or is that a specific one?

The handbook says you're allowed to have a small fridge in your room, but no microwaves or any other cooking appliance (George Foremans, Crockpots, etc.) are allowed. I don't know how much they'd crack down on this, though.

The microfridges are available to rent for the 1201 Mass. Ave. HUH "apartments" because that building is dumb and doesn't have any kitchens at all.

Gotcha thanks

I'm kinda having trouble figuring out if Gropius 1 has a closet. Does anybody know? Looking at the pictures at the link below, it seems like it doesn't have one cuz there's none shown in the G1 pictures, but the first G2 picture is of its closet which leads me to think that that's what sets it apart/justifies the greater expense.

If I remember correctly from my tour of Gropius 1, there was a wardrobe about 3, 3.5' wide and a small dresser (as you can see in the pictures) in addition to the desk and bed.

It wasn't easy to keep a straight face, especially since my tour guide had become so acclimated to it...

I just went ahead and called the housing office: apparently all the Gropius rooms have exactly the same accommodations, only difference is in sq footage.

My undergrad campus was all hideous brutalist bullshit too, though none of it was as amazingly named. I just don't understand what we did to deserve this.

Checking in :) I'm so excited to be in Boston come the fall!

I'm trying to figure out my living situation and I'm a little bit confused by the meal/food option for those living in Gropius? Is there a meal plan I'm not aware of? Or will you find yourself mostly using the communal kitchens?

No meal plan. Communal kitchens only. Apparently it works out okay.

Great info! Thanks!

Is there any reason to prefer one Gropius Hall over any other (apart from preferring all-male or all-female floors)? eg it's not like Dane has a better kitchen but maybe Shaw has better bathrooms, right?

The kitchens, common areas, and bathrooms are different.
