finally found an apartment yayy

@wonka

Just call and talk to the administration. People are still on the wait list and will be for at least another month so they would likely just fill your spot that way.

Does anyone know at what point deferral becomes no longer an option? I've done everything required for enrollment up to this point, including signing a contract for a dorm, but I've had some things come up and it seems like holding off one year might make a lot of sense. I can't seem to find a hard cutoff date on any of the HLS webpages. Do you think deferral is even a possibility at this point? TYIA.

I'd just call JS. She's a cool person, and will probably understand if you have good reasons for deferring.

I'm already moved up and settled in so if anybody is in the area and wants to hang out, just let me know.

Also, gotta say I'm impressed by the gym, though I'm sure it will be way busier and more obnoxious once everyone is back.

My impression is that it actually gets less busy during term, with people hitting the books. And you have a large university/summer programs crowd that disappears.

It's definitely more busy during the term.

Since health forms are confidential information and they're touchy about the security of email (rightly so), they ask you to either mail them in or fax them.

Via mail: HUHS, Pound Hall, 1563 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02138
Via fax: 617-495-8090

The form you can email - I did that. However if you are sending a medical record (from your doctor) or the results of a blood test or something you're doctor is going to want to either fax or email. My form only had the basic info (medical record and doctor filled out portion sent separately) so perhaps that's why they accepted it.

Is there any acknowledgement that things went through / how long did it take for you to hear back or the info to be uploaded to the HUHS portal?

This is probably better in Ask a Harvard Student, but since the topic of the gym came up: do people take classes? Is it a total hassle taking classes/trying to go to the gym during peak hours?

I can wait til I get there to be sure, but I'm wondering whether it might be worth shelling out a bit more for a gym or studio that I'll feel compelled to go to, since I logically know exercise is super important for keeping me chugging but I can be lazy and off-put by inconvenience. Maybe I've just heard unbalanced complaints of the gym being super busy, though.

Dunno; I've never taken a class. I did futsal for a while and never had any problems though.

Your experience will vary depending on what your workout looks like. I run outside so I never bother with the treadmills, but I know sometimes they have waitlists for those. Despite having a giant wall of weights, they only have like four benches. So if you want to do dumbell flies you might be SOL because it's busy but if you want to do standing bicep curls nothing will ever stop you.

How do we access the gym now? We don't get IDs until orientation, right?

Just give them your ID# at the door.

Probably around a week the first time - but only because I had things missing. I didn't get any acknowledgement the second time

Sorry if I'm late to the game on this one, but does anyone know how seating works in classes? Are you assigned from the start or are you assigned based on where you sit the first day?

Clearly this is not exceptionally important information but I've always focused a lot better in the front and I'm trying to figure out just how much willpower it will take me to stay focused I lecture

Depends on the professor.

For 2L and 3L, the most common is that you choose where to sit on day two, then that becomes your seat for the rest of the semester. But often in 1L the prof will just assign seats beforehand since the class list is set.

Some will let you choose your seat each class, but that's not the norm because profs like seating charts.

Any ideas when sections/classes get posted? Seems like this Friday is a strong possibility looking at last years.

Friday is most likely for sections. Classes will follow shortly after.

Hey there I remember providing the school with our address information but I'm confused about whether it's during the application process or some time after being admitted, or both, but I guess now we need to change it into our new address right? Does anyone know where we can do that, or will it be updated automatically if we have chosen to live on campus and received that mail assigning our current address? Thanks a lot.

When I was talking to HUHS member services they said to contact the registrar to change my address (even though I had not asked, and do not need to change my address ).
