Just got it as well, and yeah it seems pretty general.

Also I don't plan on doing public interest so I'm not even applying...

Oh yeah now that I've read it, it looks like they sent it out to everyone.

Yeah.

And the Toll Scholars website says that "The Admissions Committee selects nominees for consideration from among candidates for admission to Penn Law."

That seems different from what is actually happening.

Woah! Ninja edit!! The website now says "All admitted students are welcome to apply for the Toll Public Interest Scholarship. Instructions for applying will be sent shortly after admission."

I'm going to go ahead and write this up as just another piece of evidence that law schools keep a weather eye on TLS....

Is the Toll Scholarship as numbers based as the other named scholarships in that if I wasn't invited to any other named scholarships would I still have a chance at a Toll?

I would be shocked if this was as numbers based as the other named scholarships. I'd imagine you need to be able to make a credible case about your commitment to public interest work and that you'll actually pursue it and not the $160k upon graduation.

Yes. I don't really understand why it's there, other than to weed out less determined applicants...

+1 primarily because this is becoming standard operating procedure for schools. Damn technology.

I'm very excited about UPenn. I applied in early November and was offered admission in early January.

I see from these forums that several users were already sent invitations to apply for Penn's most lucrative scholarships. Unfortunately, I was not sent any of these emails (with the exception of the Toll PI Program details, which all admits seemed to receive). My LSAT =75%, GPA= Median.

Because I did not receive a solicitation, do you think I'm still eligible for any type of merit award from Penn? As of now, I have two other enticing T14 scholarship offers (including a full-ride) and other offers of admission from schools that are ranked more highly than Penn. At this point, I feel like I need a somewhat generous aid package to convince myself that committing to UPenn is my best move.

What should my timetable be with regards to leveraging other scholarship offers? How should I approach the issue without being bratty or pompous. I really like this school, and I don't want to have to close this door.

Thank you all so much for your help and congratulations on your cycles. :)

Got the email an hour ago

ETA: From my point of view, seems like a cool opportunity to hear about Penn's reach to my location

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
