True - doesn't worry me none but I understand that it might bother others! I'll shut it down and just wait for the official Facebook page to come out. If anyone is planning on attending the January open house - and would like to meet up with other TLSers - let me know! :)

......and in the mean time, here is a great blog for those new to DC: http://soyourenewtodc.wordpress.com

same! would be great to meet up with TLS-ers - I'll be at the Jan evening reception for sure (and possibly the Supreme Court visit)

I posted this info over in the admission's thread as a response to some questions about it but figured this would be a more appropriate place:

I just did my "Dean's Certification" requirement -- was painless. All I did was fill it out and send over to an Assistant Registrar at my school. She filled out her portion and emailed it to GULC -- next day I had the red check mark! :)

Checking in - just got my letter today! Best Christmas present ever. Any idea where they'll have student receptions? Hoping there'll be on in Texas. :)

Congrats! I got my letter recently as well and was pleasantly surprised. Were you able to log into the admitted students website mentioned in the letter? It's not allowing me to create an account for some reason, I was wondering if that's just me or if it was a systemic issue.

Haven't gotten grades back yet, but some things I've picked up on through the whole process:

- Don't stress from the beginning of the semester. It's bound to happen, but the less you freak out in September/October, the more energy you will have in November/December.

- Make friends, or at least be cordial, to everyone. You're all colleagues, there's no need to look down at people, talk shit about them, or just be generally abrasive. "Do onto others..."

- Take LRW a little more seriously than TLS suggests. I think the advice about it here only takes a pass/fail LRW into account. I wish I put a few more hours into it earlier on.

This is all excellent advice. And on the topic of making friends, talk to the quieter people. Some of my closest friends are people that I never really took notice of until almost halfway through the semester, and after a few conversations realized they were awesome people and just weren't the type to shoot their hand up multiple times a class.

And the LRW advice is 180. GULC is huge on Public Interest, which means there are a TON of people here who have done a LOT of writing. While it is only 2 credits, it's still a graded class, and you want to be ahead of the curve from the start. This isn't meaning to stress you out. As said, BREATHE and RELAX in the beginning. Everyone is in the same boat, so get acclimated, do work, make friends. But take the writing tutorials and library classes seriously. The librarians REALLY know what they're talking about. Best resource at the Law Center.

Anyway, congrats to all the admits, and Happy New Year!

Why would public interest people have more writing experience? Are people interested in public interest more likely to have previous legal experience before entering law school?

Hi!

Having a huge problem deciding between GULC and some other schools. I feel like it would open so many doors but am nervous about the price tag :/ from southern California so the price of flying out and staying for the January open house is also stressful

any advice?

This may be a stupid question...but what's the deal with these two empty check boxes on the status checker?

"Official Final Undergraduate Transcript"--I've been out of school for two years and sent my final undergrad transcript with my application...do I really have to resend this?

"Certification Form"--No idea

Anyone have an idea? Thanks

Grey knows.
... you might need to be logged in to ASW to access the link to that form

GULC ASW wrote:Submit your Official Final Transcript

Please ask that your undergraduate institution forward an official final copy of your undergraduate transcript by May 1st. Students who graduate in Spring 2015 must have transcripts submitted by July 27th.

All matriculants must have their undergraduate degree conferred by July 27, 2015. If your degree will not be conferred by July 27th, please notify the Office of Admissions in writing immediately.

Please note that all admitted students must mail their official final transcripts directly to Georgetown. Your transcript must include your degree, the date your degree was conferred, your Registrar’s signature and University Seal. Transcripts issued directly to you will not be accepted. Transcripts submitted through Law Services (LSAC) do not meet this requirement since the CAS report submitted to Georgetown is only an unofficial copy for application review purposes. Please notify us if your current name differs from the name on your undergraduate transcript.

Please have your transcript forwarded to:

Georgetown University Law Center

Office of Admissions, Room 589

600 New Jersey Avenue, NW

Washington, DC 20001

If your institution uses an electronic delivery service to transmit your official final transcript, this is acceptable as long as the transmission meets the criteria described above. The school or service must transmit the document directly to Georgetown. Please use admis@law.georgetown.edu as the email address.

GULC ASW wrote:Submit the Dean’s Certification form

If you have not already done so, please submit the Dean’s Certification Form to your undergraduate institution. The completed form must be returned by May 1st, even if you will graduate after that date.
