It's like 20 minutes on Metro and parking costs a billion dollars. Personally I will probably sell my car if I live there. But I'm a city girl so YMMV (no pun intended). I know people who drive to my office who live much closer than that, haha.

BTW I would really suggest using Airbnb as a way to check out a neighborhood you're interested in. During ASW I stayed in Columbia Heights and took the Metro to GULC, walked around, ate in the neighborhood, etc., and it was really really helpful for getting a taste of what everyday life would be like. Plus my host has lived there for years and was a great resource.

For any of you EDs out there, I was ED and received a scholarship offer. I requested the feeler email and was in the "early April" notification group.

+1 but late march group. will they let us know if we are not receiving anything? I recall some people posting about being informed they were on an "alternate" list for funding or something

Yeah I think would let you know... I actually sent them an email earlier today asking "if I'd hear soon b/c financial factors will play a large role in my decision and deposit deadlines are approaching, etc. etc." I think as long as it is polite, it can't hurt.

Meh, I suppose it's technically still early April, so I am trying this new thing called "restraint."

I received my merit scholarship email. I solicited consideration and was part of the early April group. 10,000/yr which is more than I expected from gulc esp with my numbers. But I think it's not enough for me to go bc it cant just be added to need based (which is slightly higher for me ). Dunno how I would have navigated gulc's...unique... Financial aid process without this thread!

Congrats the others and good luck to those still waiting.

Has everyone recieved the confirmation email whenever they tried to negotiate $$$?

The first time I tried negotiating, I received a confirmation where they let me know they were sending it to the committee after about 2 days - and that attempt was successful. However, I tried negotiating again last week and haven't heard anything.

True! I made a point of sending my email as a response to the one that said late March.

Smart girl! I just dug up the email that said "late March" instead of "early April" and sent a followup
