I was the late march group and I got my offer like an hour after emailing them. But then I think I must have already been a part of that wave?

I recall that day and you saying that, and it's arrival coincided almost exactly with when I got mine, so I'd think you are right in that it was just part of the wave and not a consequence of your inquiry. Not sure how much that helps any of you guys, but figured I'd offer my testimony.

Gray - how you feelin' about NU held? Are you still going to be team GULC if you get in? Also, what does intuition tell you about when we will actually here about those decisions? Again, I'm deferring to your authority on this one haha

oh I've been very much Team GULC since day one - mostly because of Mr. Gray's job situation and having a lot of family in DC. I was sort of hoping to use NU as leverage but I doubt that's going to happen in time, if at all. From last year's thread, it looks like held acceptances started in May, and Johann still hasn't given ANY decisions to a bunch of people, so I'm really not holding my breath. But yeah, I've already signed a lease in DC.

Well congrats! I guess when your husband has a job near GULC it'd be tough to go to NU haha. I can't wait for May, that's absolute nonsense....

You incoming kids are adorable. Live close by for a year, then level up into a slightly farther out apartment at half the price and twice the size. It also helps with not turning law school into college 2.0

The lady of whom I speak got a public interest scholarship of some sort (but still as a part-time student). She wanted to do law school and law as a semi-retirement plan: just doing pro bono or other good works or the rest of her days. Came from the SEC before, I think.

Not the reporter but I think I know who you're talking about - had PR with him.

Hey, all! I am still undecided (and probably will be until the bitter end), but GULC is currently one of my top contenders. If you know about affordable apartments that don't require a car (preferably walking, but using the metro is cool too), I'd love a PM as well

You don't need a car in DC, especially if you're willing to take the metro and buses. The campus is on the red line, so that would be most convenient. Really though, transit in DC is great to and from most places.

Such a drag. It still sort of baffles me that an entire transit system just stops running after a certain hour, haha.

FWIW I found that public transportation is reallllly expensive but that's probably just because it's so cheap here.

It weirdly is. Uber seems to be less expensive that NYC though; for that, I am grateful.

To OP - I wouldn't really bring a car to DC, unless I was planning on living in NOVA or MD; even at that, probably not. DC traffic is such a nightmare. Plus, a lot of the apartment complexes in NOVA offer shuttles to the metro during rush hour.

It just stops running during operational hours sometimes, too. Metro's been limping for a while now - hope you don't like traveling on weekends.

Just to add on to what others are saying - a car is definitely not necessary in dc and in my opinion can even be a burden of you live in certain areas of dc (parking, traffic etc).

I live in rockville md now tho which is technically on the metro red line and I have a car. My car is really useful around the suburbs of Maryland where I live and work but I leave it behind when I go into most areas of dc because after accounting for traffic, parking and other stresses I think it's easier to justs use metro.

If you're considering living way out like in shady grove I would recommend car. But you may not want to live that far your first year anyway.
