No. You should receive your merit aid (as others have) once they've considered your request.usn26 wrote:So does that mean no merit aid if we only got the finaid email?

This scholly stuff is slowly killing me. My initial feeler said "late March," although the response to my response said "early April." Just give me some $$$ so I can then give you much more $$$!

Sorry to all the waiters
Maybe things will speed up now that April 1 has passed and they have a better idea who is likely to attend out of the first batch of scholarship people?

It seems like a lot of people from last year's cycle on lawschoolnumbers did not hear back until the end of the month...
Here's to hoping that's not the case this year.

Bleh, I hope not. I already deposited at one place so I'm really hoping I'll be able to waive GULC's. Double deposit sucks.

I can't wait until the end of April.... that will kill me?
Consensus on sending a follow-up email to the committee letting them know of other offers? I saw someone on here did just that, should I be doing the same?

Maybe I'm just a little slow to the draw today, but are we discussing hearing back re: scholarship negotiations? Or the initial scholarship offer?
P.S. Love that this group is so active and friendly. Really hoping to be classmates with y'all this fall

I followed up on mine, only because it was a time sensitive offer.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2018
I apologize if this has been discussed at length already but I received my offer of merit aid on April 1st and I am still a bit confused. It includes the intent to enroll form/language that is due on April 10th. Has it been determined that submitting this form, with either the option to pay the deposit by May 1st or the third option (deposit is waived) is non-binding?
I am still visiting schools in the next couple weeks and I am not ready to commit just yet. Here is the language in the last paragraph
"To accept the scholarship, please return the enclosed Intent to Enroll form by 04/10/2015. As a Law Center Scholar, once the form is received, you no longer need to make a seat deposit – your deposits will be waived."

Did you follow up on an existing offer or while waiting for an offer? And did you receive a response/what did they say?handyman wrote:I followed up on mine, only because it was a time sensitive offer.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2018
I followed up while waiting for an offer. My counselor advised that I go ahead and tell them as it was a time sensitive offer from an alumni facilitated through the school (they gave me like a week). I have not heard a response from them, I imagine they just added it to my file. Also, it was for the amount I requested from a higher ranked school. The counselor said it had happened to someone last year, they made the same move and it played out well. That being said I think it was at a different T14 that the other student "double texted".

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2018
My experiences with negotiating last year were that no news is good news. When they were trying to tell me no or no money available, they sent me an email. When my request for money/response to their rejection worked I got no individualized follow up from the admissions officer, just a generic scholarship letter.

checking in. Anyone's status still just "application complete" and hasn't even gone under review yet? I know I applied in Feb, but it still seems odd that it isn't being reviewed yet.

haha. Sorry to offend you by barging in on your forum. I just searched Georgetown 2018 and this was the first one to come up. Thanks for the link though.Hand wrote:ahh, the eternal recurrence of the "does the status checker change"-questionGray wrote:Nope, Georgetown's status checker never updates after it goes complete.Marie1976 wrote:checking in. Where is everyone thinking of living next year? Rent prices are a little scary, but living far outside the city is also scary.

oh no offense taken, it's just that you are more likely to find people in the same boat in that thread than you will find here; here people mostly bitch about their scholarship offers (or lack thereof)Marie1976 wrote:haha. Yeah, I have the same dilemma. I'm mostly interested in Columbia Heights/Mt. Pleasant, but I'm also not really willing to go back to having roommates. So further out is tempting, but I worry about being forced into driving. I dunno.gjohnson wrote:Where is everyone thinking of living next year? Oh I would never drive from Columbia Heights, that's crazy. I meant like if I lived in MD/VA instead.Hand wrote:I'm hoping to end up in the same area.
