No penalty if you withdraw by July 31st. Stated in the contract.

I'll be commuting over 15 miles to campus, so I'm wondering if any current students have advice on parking. Is there any particular advantage to purchasing a yellow versus orange permit? Alternatively, should I consider catching a bus at one of the commuter lots?

You should try to lease a parking spot close to the law school. The Forum apartments are super close (right across from South), and you could post a request on lawopen for one after school starts. If you are willing to walk a few blocks you can probably get cheaper. You can contact buildings or just look on craigslist/lawopen.

How do you access lawopen? I saw that it is like a listserv type thing, but where do I go to actually log onto it/view postings?

It just gets automatically sent to your Umich Gmail account. I think they wait until closer to your class's orientation/start date until they actually enroll you in the listserv... But trust me, you'll know when you're enrolled in it - around the start of fall semester the emails can be a little overwhelming.

Also, if there are any summer starters in this thread that would like advice/outlines or have any questions about Clark's torts exam, feel free to PM me, I had his class last semester and did very well on the final and have some pointers I've picked up that are worth passing down.

Ew, lawyer's club sounds awful. Like undergrad 2.0... We can rent regular grad student housing on the north side of campus. It's like 800 for a studio, 1100 for a 2 bedroom townhouse. That's all utilities included. Townhouses have full basements with washer/dryer and what not, and good square footage.

I mean, convenient for sure. I just mean it sounds a lot like dorms... I've been out of college a few years and the idea of going back into that sort of thing doesn't appeal to me. Much rather live in a real place myself.

My Uhaul is all packed and it's my last day in the office before switching to remote for work. Gonna drive straight through the night, because tomorrow morning I'm moving into my new place in Ann Arbor!

See you guys in a minute.

Thought I'd post here in case anyone in still looking for an apartment in Ann Arbor. I'm looking for someone to take over my lease for the year, which begins August 15th. It's a spacious "luxury" one bedroom apartment south of campus with some pretty great grounds and amenities. PM me if you're interested.

And to everyone in the this thread: enjoy Ann Arbor! It's a pretty awesome city.

Problems with uhaul sounds scary. I've heard you can get screwed on even the smallest of issues with their trucks. Hope that ended well for you.

Coming from central Illinois, the first half of the drive was awful as usual. Flat, corn fields, nothing else. But once I got on 94 and into Michigan the scenery got a lot more interesting.

Granted, I'm still in the honeymoon period with Ann Arbor, but so far I'm loving it. It's hilly and colorful and such a great balance of urban and nature. I live on North campus, where it feels like I'm out in the woods. If I bike a mile or two south, I'm downtown and everything is different. I like how bike-friendly the town is (I'll probably laugh at this statement come Winter).

I'm settled in, so now I'm ready for class to start.

Hey UMich, hope you all are kicking ass this semester!

If any of you have a moment, could you pm me/email me a couple of Starr's past exams? It would be very much appreciated! She taught at UofC last quarter, and her exam is coming up here pretty soon.

Cheers; if I can help with anything in recompense, don't hesitate.

Hey all. Newly admitted transfer here. Any recommendations on housing?

Or any feelings toward the Manhattan Flats? Let me know if I should veer away.
