Lurker emerging from the shadows to DITTO this. Saw you had a previous post about using Notre Dame money to negotiate...did that end up working? Wondering because I'm a bit of a splitter, but I've gotten $$ offers from schools 15-20. Didn't know if schools in T14 only considered "peer school" offers. In any case, congratulations!

I sent an e-mail to admissions, which they forwarded on to financial aid. Explained why I loved Michigan, how money was really the only thing holding me back (which is complete truth), presented them with my offers from Notre Dame and University of Illinois ($120,000 and full tuition respectively). They told me they only review files once, so make sure all your offers are in. From my first e-mail to admissions to today was one week! My stats are in the spreadsheet on the admissions thread if anyone is wondering that, other than that I was just really polite and asked them to reconsider me!

Also, thanks so much to everyone, I'm super excited!

The scholarship turn around is def quicker now- got the scholarship email before the acceptance packet/email. If I didn't check the status checker obsessively I might have found out I was in from scholarship info!

I could be wrong, but I believe there have been people who received an email explicitly saying no $$.

Edit: Actually I think that was Chicago. Sorry, not sure!

You can always just email the admissions/financial aid office and ask if you qualified for any merit-based aid. Take some stress off the waiting!

How long after acceptance do you think one needs to wait for that not to be perceived as pushy/annoying?

On their website they say that they try to get merit awards out within 2 weeks. So I think if it's been longer than 2 weeks, you'll be fine. Just be polite and friendly and I'm sure it's nbd.

I'm flying to, but I meant from the airport! Shuttle schedule isn't great and that cab fare. . .

Yeah, it's about 45 mins and cabs look to be $50-$80, depending on who you call.

I'd love to share a cab but I'm getting in early - 9:15 AM. Any more early arrivals?
