Rejected From Your First Choice Law School? All Hope Is Not Lost!

Post by LawPreview » Tue Jan 23, 2018 12:45 pm

"Devastated. Kicked in the the gut. Blindsided. That’s how it might feel when you check your Gmail and read the first sentence from your top-choice school: “We regret to inform you…”

If you’ve clung to the dream of attending a particular law school since your senior year of high school, you’ll undoubtedly feel deeply discouraged by this rejection. But, before you scream profanities at your computer screen and delete that email, read on a little further. Even the most elite schools include “please keep us in mind” reminders about the 2L transfer process in their rejection emails. You see, law schools know that all hope is not lost for you to attend your dream school — so you shouldn’t give up either. . . ."

This appears to be an advert claiming that you can pay BarBri up to $1,000 and then go to a lower ranked school in the hope that the six day long course will put you so far ahead of your peers that you can transfer up to Harvard, Chicago or Georgetown.

Just promising that law review would get you ahead was controversial enough based on past reports in these forums. Now it's not just getting ahead but coming top of your class and moving to some of the best schools in the nation.

Hi Albanach -- thanks for the honest feedback. In truth, that article was not meant to be an advertisement as you describe -- simply stating facts and outlining the business case for why law schools accept transfer students, all in an effort to educate candidates who don't get admitted, or even apply, to some top-ranked schools as 1Ls. We certainly weren't trying to be controversial when posting a link to that blog article; rather, wanted to explain how students are able to make life changing transfers if they are able to do well enough as 1Ls and providing testimonials to that effect as evidence . . . showing that not all hope is lost if an applicant finds themselves rejected from their top-choice school during this admissions cycle.

Best of luck as you pursue your law degree!
