Hi Karen and Mike,

I have a question about diversity statements - does it look weird/reflect negatively on you to submit one a while after submitting your application? I had a tough time deciding whether to write an LGBTQ one and decided it was better to submit than wait out my comfort level, but now feel maybe I could write one that would highlight a lot about my law school interests. The question is both for schools that have a specific section for diversity statements, and ones where it would just be a general supplemental (I already have an extremely short GPA/LSAT addendum for all my apps).

Thanks for all your help!

Would it be beneficial to mention that I'm interested in a particular law school because my father was a visiting professor there (a different school within the university), and I had opportunities to visit and talk to some of the students and faculty there and loved the experience?

You would be crazy not to mention this. Please do!

We are speaking at Rice in March then heading up to see a partner at Gibson Dunn in Dallas who is for all practical matters the chair of our board, so we'd love to do an Austin leg of the trip. I've learned what to do in Austin from the Daily Show, so we are, of course, set now.

Also, I just realized we could stay at a condo at the Four Seasons there that is owned by another Dallas heavy hitter who rarely uses it, so we could meet some of you all at the Four Seasons there for coffee. Not a bad spot for a business meeting! Let's make it happen.

If you haven't had a decision yet, submit! just call and ask the person you talk to if you could email it to them and if he/she could add to your file. You definetly should do this.

I'm definitely interested and would love to! If y'all end up staying, please don't hesitate to shoot me a PM on here! Always interested for some coffee and talk.

Read through the entirety of this thread over the past week, finishing a few days ago. Incredibly helpful, and I just want to say thank you to Mike and Karen.

On a lighter note, when I finally finished all 133 pages, I was working my way through the Spivey Consulting website. Got to the bio page with all your pictures, and was genuinely shocked to see that Mike and Clooney are NOT the same person. I guess after reading all the posts with the Clooney avatar I had associated name and picture to the point where I actually did a double take.

So why did Clooney get the boot???

I can only imagine your disappointment when you saw my bio.

George was an inside joke -- it started getting old to Karen and me. So I went back to the "graphic element" (I think that is what we call it).

Thanks for reading the entirety, sorry about all of the typos and bad jokes!

If it crosses the line I'll do it from like 4:01am to 4:02am on LSAT test day.

If it's awesome I'll keep it up longer than I did the George Clooney pic.

I know crossing the line is a great way to have you never use it. I'll dance as close to that damn line as I can, though.

I have a URM question. How does Yale factory URM status into their 12 point system?

Also, since they don't have a "URM box" to check on the application, should a URM applicants include information about their diversity in their PS or 250?

Ha. No. But the longer this thing takes to make the more worried I grow.
