Driving Record & Maryland Character and Fitness
Curious. Has anyone had any issues with Maryland’s Character & Fitness because of a driving record? I have 2 fast speeding citations (not reckless or misdemeanor) and I am semi-worried about failing character and fitness because of them.

Unless they have become stricter in the last 2 years, you shouldn’t have any issues with your speeding tickets if you are honest with them. For the record, I had a few out of state speeding tickets that I cited in my application, with explanation. I passed the July 2018 Maryland Bar, as well as character and fitness.

in general, two speeding tickets over the 5/7/10 years that a State requests your driver's record to show, won't cause any problems. Two hundred speeding tickets will.
There's also time and proportionality:
- If you got a bunch speeding tickets when you were 16-18, and you haven't had a single ticket since then, you'll be fine.
- If you got the same number of speeding tickets, but they're spread out over time in a consistent and continuous pattern up to the present, you have a problem.
But seriously, don't sweat the small stuff. Just about everyone has one or two speeding tickets. I had roughly one per year, and I was fine.
