New York Bar July 2018

Post by kjolaw » Fri Apr 06, 2018 11:35 am

Didn't see NY bar exam thread.

I am thinking of signing up for Barbri after all. $2500+ is really steep now.

I do have the following materials. Can share or exchange with what you have.

1. Printable flashcards MBE and MEE,
2. Outlines with MEE Essay Frequency and
3. Answers to all MEE questions.

Expand your search, I used Kaplan for both bar exams and they were extremely willing to and did negotiate deep discounts. I paid well below your Barbri quote and Kaplan served me well for both UBE and Florida.

I technically started around the beginning of May (for July last year), but I know plenty of people who waited until around Memorial Day (which is 8 weeks of studying) to start. You're actually way ahead. But if you're working while studying, then the sooner you start, the better.

Checking in. Retaker. Losing motivation but going to try and keep going. Also starting earlier. Hoping to start bar review tonight. Using barbri.

Bought BarMax. Also using the Barbri 1L outline and MEE test book and Themis outlines, as additional references. Feels like there is so much time but when I look at the schedule, it doesn't seem enough.

Also, I have mini outlines for some topics that I have yet to upload to my site but if you're a flow chart or diagram person I do have some aids I made uploaded for free. I also take a limited number of requests at a time if someone needs help on a particular topic. Right now, I am actually working on a joint, condensed civ pro and conflict of laws outline because -at least in my school - conflict of laws was often called civ pro 2.0 (for good reason) and it is a topic that trips up some people but in reality it is quite simple.

I selected Saratoga.

I'm out-of-state so had no real clue and a few old threads has recommended.

But the cost of hotels is more than I thought it would be

Buffalo here. Finding a hotel was a pain in the ass.

Didn't see Albany in the list. And I booked a hotel there last April too! Hotels in downtown Saratoga are really expensive. :(

I remember signing up for Buffalo because (a) I'm already in the Midwest, (b) I wanted to avoid the distraction that was NYC, and (c) it had the cheapest accommodations. You could also get stuff downtown relatively late. I could answer any questions

Do we get any scratch paper for the bar exam?

Are the booklets provided enough if they don't give us scratch paper?

I'm constantly diagramming for property questions so I'm worried what will happen if we don't have enough room.

actually crossed my mind too... i tried to restrict my diagramming to the bar prep book but damn, some of the fact patterns are brutal

JFC at the hotel prices in Saratoga. The cheapest I can find within walking distance is $400 for two nights.

I guess that's the price you pay for picking the one location where the demand for hotel rooms is going to outstrip the supply.

Unless the 2018 rules are different from 2017 rules, you won’t receive any scrap paper unless you handwrite the exam. Examinees can write in the margins of the MEE/MPT/MBE books.

Does anyone know what the parking situation is like at the Saratoga Springs City Center is like?

Also, please let me know if you need a Adaptibar code.

Yeah, I was looking at really dumpy places and best I could find was non-refundable 168/night.

That's 2 miles away but much nicer than a lot of the dumps near the city center (that aren't 300/night).

I spoke with a hotel concierge and they have uber there so we don't have to be at the exam location until 8:30 or so I think I will be safe just ubering it.

There's no way I was going to rent a car for over $100/day.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
