MPT Prep

Postby waxecstatic » Thu Sep 07, 2017 12:50 am

Hey everyone, I passed the Mass bar a few years ago, but I haven't had any good prospects really so I'm going to take the bar in CT in February (I never thought I'd take another standardized test). Anyway, I don't really know much about the MPT which it has. Anyone have any good suggestions for prep?

I passed NY last year, which had an MPT component. I prepared for a few hours at most, mostly just listening to Kaplan's advice on what to do and briefly glancing at what the materials look like. I don't know how I did on this component of the exam, but I do know that it felt substantially easier than the rest of the exam. Don't stress out about it too much, but definitely get familiarized with what it looks like so you aren't thrown off on exam day.

If you have already passed the bar the MPT is a joke. I didn't spend much time prepping for it for my july bar and I felt like I killed it. I did three full MPTs for practice during bar prep. The first one and then two for the full practice test. I spent very little time working on it after seeing how my answers were compared to the example answers.

It's definitely one of the more difficult parts of the test to prepare for. The NCBE has released quite a few MPTs, and if preparing for the MPT, those prior exams should definitely be incorporated into the prep.
