Awesomen! What exactly does this mean though?
I’ll be doing a UBE transfer. The more I thought about it, I was going that route anyway. My MPRE is too old for NY, but not for my UBE xfer states. So now, while I do have a heftier C&F fee (NY is only $375 whereas a UBE xfer is around $1000 in most states), I now don’t have to take any more exams. Add to thatsome other factors on my end, and it makes sense.

So I’m effectively retiring from taking exams 8)

You have a qualifying score for other jurisdiction. If you look for federal jobs in NY, you don’t need to be licensed in NY as long as you are licensed in any state. Have you considered to be licensed in other UBE jurisdiction that accepts 260?

Failled by 16 points. Written 131 / MBE 119 . I suck at MBE. My percentiles were a joke! Sad!

However, I literally did not study even a little bit. I did not pick up a single book or note card or do any prep whatsoever. I just took the UBE for fun during my clerkship. I've already passed the Texas bar in July and I'll be taking the California bar this upcoming July. I studied for Texas and you better believe I'll be studying for California.

I'm sorry to anyone who took it seriously and failed. The MBE sucks, and should be reevaluated for people who don't think in multiple choice format.

Hey Joe, question - do you know how to calculate the written score from both the final UBE score (I got 300) and MBE? (I got 151). I'm just wondering how I did on the written, and you seem to know your stuff! Thanks!

THIS. A buddy of mine got licensed in Minnesota after not getting enough for NY. He’s in DC working now. All of NY’s federal districts require you to be licensed in a state - not necessarily NY.

You have options. You already can become an attorney.

PASSED and no actual clue how but NOT GOING TO QUESITION IT :D :D :D

141 MBE, 171 MEE/MPT and 312 overall. In total shock. I actually had my parents open the email because I couldn't.

The last 7 months have been a whirlwind of emotions so I'm on cloud 9.

Congrats to everyone who passed!

To all those who missed the mark, I feel for you, and I have faith that you can still beat this test. Take today and tomorrow to mourn however you need to, and wake up ready to start planning later this week. I wish PM still existed on here but I'd be happy to help out any retakers in any way I can. I bar prepped at my law school lib the first time and this second time abroad at home, flew into NY for the test. Just know you CAN do it!!

Minnesota doesn't seem like such a bad place I guess. 950$ to transfer score though. Really worth if I don't plan on practicing there?

Hey Joe, question - do you know how to calculate the written score from both the final UBE score (I got 300) and MBE? (I got 151). I'm just wondering how I did on the written, and you seem to know your stuff! Thanks!
Based on your scaled MBE score of 151, your estimated raw MBE score was about 129/175 correct. This is based on the 2013 New York MBE raw/scaled conversion (which is the most recent time an MBE raw/scaled conversion was released). This means you answered about 74% of the graded MBE questions correctly. Based on the F16 national statistics on the MBE (which serve as a good predictor of this exam’s percentiles), this places you in the 85% percentile for the MBE. This means that only 15% of Feb examinees nationwide did better than you on the MBE based on your scaled MBE score of 151. Based on a total score of 300, this means your written score was 149. Assuming that the MEE/MPT percentiles follow the national MBE statistics, scoring a 149 Scaled MEE/MPT score would have placed you in the 89% percentile among examinees nationwide (meaning that only 11% of examinees nationwide would have scored better than you on the MEE/MPT). Great job!

If you don't mind, can you briefly explain how you studied for the MBE (how long, what percentage of your overall study time, what questions you used, how many did you answer overall, and your overall % correct). I ask this to see if there is any commonality in study routines (such as # of practice questions).

I couldn't edit my original post. I meant to say MBE scaled score of 147.6.

You still shouldn't delete it. Passing is 24Kb. However, NYBOLE has done some silly things in the past, including sending examinees double copies of their PDF essays (one PDF file containing 2 copies of their essays). You really need to look at it to make sure. Also, if you send it to me, I will send you a score report.

As a licensed attorney in MN, you can do Federal practice in NY. NY’s districts allow it. Immigration alone is enough work, not to mention Tax, and others.

I graduated law school in 2010 and never sat for the bar previously. I work full-time in a non-law job and only studied after work and on the weekends, I scored a 328 (171 MBE) using Themis (75% completion), MEE One-Sheets, and Critical Pass Flashcards (primarily on my phone). I highly recommend this combination.

May I ask where you guys are getting your score breakdowns? The email included my total/MBE score, but didn't include anything about MEE or MPT.

Passers only receive their Total Score and MBE Score. Failers receive a lot more information, including how they did on each of the MBE subjects. If you tell me your Total Score and MBE Score, I can give you some statistics on them.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
