What good is Barbri? (or Themis or Kaplan)
I've spent a lot of time looking at people's comments, and I can't see any reason to spend the money of Barbri when it seems like the lectures are not useful, they don't use real questions, and they don't even provide flashcards. The hell? It seems like I can spend $1000 on adaptibar/criticalpass and be done with this MBE wise, no?

no barbri.
adaptibar+ critical pass = less than $1000. If you want find another program for your essay.

To be fair, I would presume a lot of the comments aimed at the lectures being "not useful" are for repeaters who have already gone through them once already. If you feel like you have a grasp of the material and/or can read an outline and understand and retain the information well, then go for it. However, I think it's a bit risky trying to learn by taking exams.ConfusedL1 wrote:I've spent a lot of time looking at people's comments, and I can't see any reason to spend the money of Barbri when it seems like the lectures are not useful, they don't use real questions, and they don't even provide flashcards. In a sense, the barbri questions/lectures are helpful, but you should still supplement them with adaptibar/critical pass etc. However, this doesn't necessarily mean replace them with those extras.

I used Themis for bar prep. I paid for a prep program because I didn't want to a reason to look back and say "maybe if I had paid for a prep program, I would have passed the bar." That said, I also acknowledge you can not pass with a prep program.
For me, it was a matter of ease. Themis organizes my study structure for me. So all I ever had to do was turn on my computer and do whatever I was told to do. This took away the added stress of having to structure my own plan.
Some people don't find the lectures worthy. I did, but I also watched them at a faster speed. Some lecturers were clearly better than others. The lectures help me concentrate on my major topics. You can get an outline with a gazillion issues... but the bar is about passing the test, not acing it.
