Honestly all you need to study for the bar is someone's concise bar outlines (Leansheets,Magicsheets, whatever), Adaptibar, and Baressays (or any other resource that is going to assist you in learning how to write actual essays that the CA bar graders want).

I agree with this. I think you can do very well by getting the operative review course books (such as the BarBri conviser) off ebay and combine it with baressays and adaptibar.

This line is a crock and it's heard everywhere. It's like saying the Olympic trials are just minimum competency for competing in the Olympics - which they are. However, this by no means says that it's easy or you should be able to conquer it without hard work. The bar is the same. Don't underestimate this thing.

I haven't believed it from the get go, otherwise our state wouldn't be failing more than half of the applicants. I think it's just an anxiety relieving mantra for some.

Im wondering if anyone else is studying wills and corporations **light**

They asked about wills and corps for the february exam, and they haven't went back to back on those questions in like 20 years.

They did back to back wills & Trusts in July 2014 > Feb 2015, but I DOUBT they do it again. I assume if they are going to test Business Associations, they will test partnerships and agency, since they just tested Corp last time like you said.

I am just keeping myself aware of the major Corp issues and hoping they don't have a purely dedicated federal securities essay (because it seems like it's normally a sub-part in recent essays, and not the subject of a full essay so I've been focusing on other Corp areas more).

I would rather see Con Law over CA Evidence. As an out-of-stater struggling to remember any state distinctions, I'm not sure what I will write if CA Evidence comes up. I'll probably just wind up writing an answer based on the federal rules and sprinkle in a few sentences that begin "under California law, ..." or "in California courts, ..."

It's only been tested twice in the past 6 exams.

Here's a quote from my tutor concerning what might be on the written portion. "Who the !@#$ cares?" Did you study? Then stop worrying. Let the bar examiners test whatever they want."

Anyone know what's good to eat near Oakland convention center? Trying to contemplate what to do for lunch, and wanting good brain food that will sustain me in the afternoon.

(Good breakfast options would be nice to know, too.)

I am told going heavy on omega 3's is the way to go.

Totally agree. It is impossible to predict. The predictors are frauds.

Obviously you should study everything to the level of being able to write a passing essay on every subject but I don't think there's any harm in paying extra attention to subjects that are likely to be tested especially if those are areas where you might be weak.

Agree; I think perhaps dedicating a bit more time to PR or CP would be prudent.

Look at the chart of tested subjects. Obviously PR and evidence are tested most, so study those. But after that it's a total crap shoot. There is no way of knowing what is likely for the rest of the subjects.

This is just me, but Remedies seems to be tested quite a lot lately. I would personally add that to the watchlist.

Ha-ha.

I've heard that term bandied about several times.

Lies!

I honestly do think some people comfort themselves with it though. Maybe it takes the pressure off and allows one to relax. Whatever works.

Yesterday, for about 20 minutes, I actually had an earnest debate with myself about the merits of drinking before the exam. Something along the lines of, "I'm the one who has to take it; I'm paying for it, so why shouldn't I be able to go in with a good buzz??? Why, I should be able to take in a gigantic thermos of motherf'ing Red Bull and Vodka if it's my prerogative!" Then I ate something and the sheer rationality and reasonableness of the notion went away.

But no coffee? Seriously? How can I achieve "minimum competency" without being jacked on syrupy-thick black coffee for 6.5 hours?
