It's an essay topic we have in Texas and I know quite a few Texas people are posting in this thread. Dunno about other states though.

I believe Purchase Money mortgages and Purchase Money Security Interests (ex: a lender granting a car loan to someone, and the lender taking an interest in the car itself) are considered "secured transactions". I don't remember if that is on the CA exam, but I remember lots of it from law school *I went to New York Law School)

Oregon also has SecTrans. It's what the previous poster said--debt secured by some asset, and what priority various claims on an asset have when someone owes money to errybody.

We don't have Commercial Paper, whatever that is.

It's also an MEE topic. I'm in TX, hoping for Secured + Contracts on Thursday. Hate commercial paper.

...well?

That could have gone worse, and I think it went a little bit better than July. That's about all I'll say.

I had 3 local essays to my state, one MPT which I thought was easy, and 6 MEE's, so 9 esays total plus the MPT. I thought the MEE's were somewhat random. That said, I thought that the last two or three were the easiest. Not sure if everyone gets the same order. Also not sure if some people have the MEE on Thursday. The first essay was so random and was asking too much!

Yeah idk if rinkrat was in a UBE state or not, but the essays on the UBE were somewhat out of left field. There were only 2 MBE subject essays, last July there were 4. The secured trans question required a ton of information, agency and partnerships? Didn't expect that at all.

My state only gives us 30 minutes for each MEE question. How did people finish is what I want to know.

Yup. Took in July and I still can't believe how hard it seemed. Not looking forward to tomorrow. I'm much more prepared now but still afraid it's going to be a miserable experience.

But I'm convinced that no bar prep program in the universe could have prepared us for what was in July. Some of those questions may as well have been written in hieroglyphics.

I am indeed in a mixed local/MEE state (OR). 6 essays, I think we had 2 state and 4 MEE, although I have instant and near-total forgetfulness of exams so I can't really remember.

Ah, now that I think a little bit, I remember ConLaw, OR Admin, Evidence, Crim, OR Ethics, and Partnership (not in that order). Lol at OR Ethics, which I've never even read and hadn't studied at all. Just making shit up from what I remember from my law school class and the MPRE. God only knows how OR differs from Fed.

2 MPTs. I cannot for the life of me remember what the first one was, except it was an internal law firm memo. 2nd one was letter of demand/internal memo on Torts.

Overall I don't know if everything was easier or harder than July, but the subject selection was definitely better for me, personally. Avoiding CivPro and Property and Corps is just fine with me. :)

For the Uniform Bar Exam, the essay questions were (in this order)

Secured Transactions
Evidence
Limited Liability Partnership
Constitutional Law
Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare (Agency / Wills)
Family Law

Only 2 were from the big 7. Ugh.
