NY July 2015 Support Group

Post by myrtlewinston » Sun May 24, 2015 9:20 pm

Hi,
Who else is taking the Barbri online course? I could use some human contact, even if it's just over e-mail.

Hello,

I'm not taking the course online per se, I attend lectures but because I am studying in IL the lectures are all videos which is pretty much the same as watching it online.

So far so good! It's still pretty early on in the process so I'm trying to get my body use to a new schedule and keep a positive mindset. It's important to remember that you won't always get the answers correct . If I knew everything I wouldn't have to study for the bar. My goal is to be kind to myself.

So's mine! I keep reminding myself that all I want is to pass.

To make any of you feel better, I've taken the last 2 days off for vacation.

But contracts tomorrow.

Yay.

So on the questions, are we supposed to not look at notes/book as we answer? I've been consulting my notes and the conviser mini outline along the way... It definitely helps me to learn as I go through the notes, but I could also see it skewing my personal study plan if barbri thinks I know everything cold when I don't.

Thoughts?

I've been doing all Mc questions without looking...I figure I want a true gauge right away about how this is going...

Also, what % do we need to pass on each section? Lots of numbers floating around without much backing.

For the MBE? I think a passing score is 140 which would equal to 126-128 questions correct ( roughly) .

How do we have to do on the MPT and essays if we get a 140?

remember: NY grades 40% MBE, 40% Essays, 10% MPT, and 10% NYMC. You need 665 to pass. Doesn't matter how you get it so long as you get there.

Barbri MBQs has managed to lower my self-esteem. My scores are up and down. But I'm writing down the rules to all the answers I get wrong.

Is this helping to learn the rules? Are you doing it physically or typing them out?

Barbri's app has mini-outlines (shorter than the Conviser). Does anyone know if they can be printed? If so, how?

I'm handwriting all the rules I keep getting wrong but I'm going to eventually type them up. My goal is to go over the wrong rules before doing practice problems to see if helps .

Mine too! I'm reading the explanations carefully and adding what I missed to my CriticalPass cards.

Omgee critical pass cards are the shit! Best investment ever! Although I haven't filled in the distinctions yet, I've been making notes on the blank side of the card to make sure I eventually fill in the NY distinctions .

Am I the only one behind the Barbri schedule? :-( I'm a little behind, but it's still upsetting.

Checking in with my NY people.

I'm behind the schedule for sure. Looking to make up some ground this weekend but not going overboard.

I've seen a few different posts from successful bar-takers saying they were not anywhere near completion of the Barbri assigned work. Makes me feel better when I see my assignments stack up.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
