Sounds like you have it right. Normally the other spouse can recover 1/2 of the community property that's given away during the marriage, but not with savings bonds. Just pretend the bonds didn't exist.

I can get around 70-75% of MBE questions right, but if you asked me why something was wrong, I couldn't tell you. If you asked me what the elements of murder were, I'd have no idea. I just have a decent understanding of what facts would lead to murder. Is anyone in the same boat? How are you going about studying? Barbri is still assigning so much that I don't have time to just start reviewing the MBE subjects for memorization.

This is me. I don't know the answer to anything off the top of my head, but I can get MBE questions correct.

How many physical pages of material do you think barbri sent us? I'm in NY - it was 33lbs of books.

When's the last day for submitting graded essays again? Someone posted it the other day but couldn't find the post...

For the same reason the books don't have content pages, i.e. none.

My fav is whichever book it is where all things start on page 1 and they bothered to put in a TOC saying so.

The percentage who pass is based on the number of test-takers who score at least 665 points on the exam. The exam isn't curved in the sense that a certain percentage of test-takers will pass or fail. So, the fact that 83% of first-time takers pass in NY reflects the fact that 83% of first-time takers score enough points. But it doesn't mean that 83% will pass this time around. I just don't understand the "you just need to stay out of the bottom 20%" logic here.

The logic is because the bar exam scores are set beforehand and anticipate where people fall from a percentile standpoint using years of data. So you're right. Its not a perfect way of dealing with it. But its close enough that its safe to rely on.

How are you handling the MPT's? I've done a couple where I just read the facts and library and try to build an outline of what my actual answer would look like. And then I'll type out the headings or whatever, which are generally pretty close to what Barbri's look like. I feel like going through and writing the entire thing may be counterproductive and/or a waste of time. In addition, Barbri's sample answers are way, way too good for any normal person to actually write in 90 minutes. How much of that do we actually need to hit to get points?

Any previous bar takers have advice for the MPT?

There were 298 pages (149 sheets exclusive of covers) in the practice MBE book exclusive of covers, weighing 1.29 lbs. That works out to 7,623 pages, again ignoring covers.

There were probably more pages overall because the MBE book was the smallest and thus had the highest cover:page ratio. So let's just call it 7,650.

My number had no rational basis and your number is greater. Let's go with 7,650.

Well, shit, guess I won't be doing any more. (Unless I convince myself to do some right now.)

Why stop 3 weeks before the exam? It didn't take 3 weeks to grade the single one I did.

It's Friday the 10th at midnight

"We would like to remind you that if you missed the opportunity to submit an essay for grading that was assigned in the Personal Study Plan, you can still submit it for feedback. You have until Friday, July 10th to submit essays. Although many students would like to continue receiving feedback on their performance right up until the bar exam, this is often a counterproductive approach. First, you should be more proficient at self-grading your work as the BARBRI course draws to a close. Second, there are several factors that go into essay performance, including familiarity with the subject and topics tested and individual exam conditions. Our BARBRI Staff Attorneys are available to answer any last minute study and strategy questions, however the ability to submit an essay for grading will conclude at midnight, Friday, July 10th."

Whipped out a Torts essay to be graded. I did it with open LeanSheets. Not exactly closed book, but less than full open book, I figure. And better than not doing one at all.
I'll try and do the CivPro one tonight before 10pm. Whee.

Small breakthrough - did the MBE Evidence review and got 13/18 on an MPQ set I did right afterwards! I had been at sub-50% on most of my MPQs.
My critical pass and emmanuels came in too, so another thing to be happy about!

It must vary by state. NY is definitely the 10th.

So, I'm JUST getting around to doing essays...going to crank out a few before tonight just in case the deadline is tonight (and not tomorrow, considering the dates that are conflicting).

When it says "Criminal Law Essay 1" Does that mean "Question 1" in our NYT book?

How long are people generally spending per essay when they write them? Wondering if it's possible to write a bunch of these REALLY quick and even if they're not great, better than not getting any feedback at all...
