Fair warning: the answers were either basic (attempted to explain answer and did some) or unresponsive (redirected my attention towards something else).

hearsay? :P

that last contracts essay...
Naw, I got a Ks question testing the second restatement's requirement that a promise to pay a charity be in writing to be enforced by promissory estoppel. It was tricky because it seemed to be testing the exception that charities don't actually have to rely on the promise.
Lol this one got me as well. That must have been in the big outline because I didn't see it in the small or lecture outlines.

2 questions:

1. Are the Torts MBE questions getting easier with each set or am I getting that much better?

2. why is the video quality so shitty?

No idea about #1 as I haven't started Torts yet.

#2: The video quality on the web browser is shitty for me too. However, if you can watch on an iPad, or better yet, download the videos from the Android Themis app and watch those on the computer, the quality is much better.

Same experience. I found an error in one of the assessment questions and wanted to make sure that my answer was actually correct (as you know, these are very basic questions). The answer re-affirmed that what I'd picked was actually correct, but didn't respond at all to the fact that their assessment question told me that the wrong answer was correct.

Did the first graded essay, ran out of time, and didn't get a chance to actually answer the question. Oops.

This will get better, right? :|

Is your first graded essay already up? For CA, the first one (real property) doesn't become available until tomorrow.

The Torts professor is shit. Monotone, reading off a script and barely any examples. Granted Torts is easier than Ks, but still. This is the best they could get? Contracts guy was awesome. Tons of examples for virtually every issue. A shame they couldn't get him to do Torts also.

For NY, the K's one is up and due today. There's a "practice" Torts (NY distinction) one first. I feel like I'm in no position to be writing essays, but I guess YOLO? :?

Yeah, contracts for MD. Next Friday is property. It's stressful because MD weighs the essays heavier than most states, I think? (2/3 essay, 1/3 MBE). At least I learned something from the model answer though!

They really aren't that bad. I took my first one yesterday and it had a subject I hadn't even covered (I guess because my state has all multiple areas of law essays?). I just bullshitted a rule based on what seemed reasonable and I still hit most of the points from the sample even with the made up rule. Minimum competency test and all that.

Real Property Distinctions Outline (Done)
Real Property Distinctions Chapters 1 and 2 (Done)
Real Property Practice Essays
Real Property Practice Essays (Two in a row due)
PA Performance Test Outline (Done)
And here's what just schooled me...we are to do PA Performance Test Chapter 1-3...but before chapter 3, unbeknownst to me until 5 minutes ago, we are meant to do an actual performance test.

Well I'm keeping up with the schedule no matter what.

Everyone enjoy there day.... :(

Anyone taking the NY/NJ bar, are we to expect that the NJ essays will be frustratingly vague and the NY essays to be surprisingly straightforward?

Sorry for the dumb question - if we are doing online, are the books of any use? Would love to just toss them.

Getting 50-60% on my first few M.B.E. questions. Need to increase.

Don't sweat it right now. I think most of us are in the same range, especially when you first start out.

I can second this, I've only done K's but first problem set ~50%, second problem set ~60%. At least it's getting better.

Got a major point of law totally backwards again, but on a graded essay this time, so that's fun...

Also, the VA personal property lecture handout says "copywrite" about a dozen times. They even conjugated it without noticing, "once a work is copywrited..." Not making me feel great about trying to learn fine details from these.

Seconded.

Plus remember that you'll likely be better at some subjects over others. My first K's MBE set was 58% correct, and the second set was 56%, whereas my first Torts MBE set was 69%. I feel like I'll probably struggle on K's for a while, but should be doing better on subjects I'm more comfortable with, and that's probably safe for everyone to assume.

ETA: and I completely forgot about a major NY distinction on my K's essay (so while I had the CL right, just totally forgot to even think about the fact that I was in NY...oops).

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
