Is anyone going to the swearing in ceremony, is there anything we have to do besides pay dues and show up?

Also wondering about the swearing in ceremony. Do we have to get tickets for guests or anything?

Just so you all know, you can complete your registration online (texasbar.com/newattorney) and pay for dues do be licensed immediately, then print out the oath and have any notary public swear you in.

I think I'm just showing up I guess, there wasn't anything I could find that said you had to RSVP or anything.

We don't have to pay our dues/fees prior to the swearing in, do we? Checked the papers they sent us and they didn't seem to indicate that we have to pay them first.

No you don't have to pay your dues first, in fact after the swearing in you can walk over to the Texas Law Center and go to the Bar offices on the 5th floor and pay your dues there.

He was a practicing attorney in California for a few years, went to Stanford, and his firm moved him to Texas (he's originally from Texas.) I don't even remember what he had to say, he kept it short and sweet.

2nd highest scorer was from Columbia, and the third highest scorer went to South Texas.

I sat for the exam in February 2016 - Needed 675 and received a 664. I took Barbri and have retaken Barbri and afterwards requested an "Informal Review" from the Board. I learned a few things worth sharing. Not all the answers Barbri Posted as correct to the P&E questions were what the Board was looking for. Several had timing issues despite the obvious answer that the question screamed for and the Board wanted the candidates to identify the timing issue and not give the obvious answer. Similarly on several essays, the reviewers said "Good handling of the questions" as their remarks but I only scored in the 15th percentile.... something doesn't jive but not sure what to do with that data. Regardless, on other questions I learned that I had missed subtle facts that were key to what the correct answers were. So, my takeaway as I sit again next week are: Do not get nervous, the questions are generally straight forward, but read all the questions CAREFULLY, know your burdens of proof and SOLs and assume every fact is there for a reason and on the P&E watch for timing issues. Texas loves timing issues.

Are you guys talking about the high top scorer for Feb. 2016? If so, the top scorer, not the third, was from South Texas - Jeremy Dunbar.
