Ok thanks guys. She was a close friend in HS, but not a best friend. We still talk, but not that often. She called me when she got engaged to tell me the news. I'm worried about price just as much as time I guess since I have to go to VT.ph14 wrote:Tough call, but I think you would be alright since that is a solid 3 weeks before the bar. And hopefully you could study on the plane. I find i'm actually quite productive on planes, as I have no internet or TLS to distract me, plus I might as well study since it's not a comfortable experience anyways. How good of a friend are we talking?Lwoods wrote:I would do it, though I probably wouldn't want to take any major trips later than that. Would it just be for a long weekend? Does the hotel have wifi? Do you think you'd be able to do any prep while there (maybe early morning before festivities)?ilovesf wrote:My somewhat good friend is getting married over July 4 weekend. I would have to make a trip to NY & VT to go to it. How feasible is this with timing & bar study schedules? Would I be crazy for considering going that soon before the bar?

What's the best way to go about this? I'm using Barbri. Just follow along on the class schedule for my location? Is there anything worthwhile to do before then?

Starting around page 3, I ease into many pages of explanation and examples of how to craft simple and powerful BAR essay answers.
I think most people will find the structure and concepts helpful.
Even if you create you own hybrid approach, odds are this info will bring clarity, help, and hope.
See what you think..

I'm missing the first day of my class, but as of right now, I plan on going to all of the classes because I don't have any drive to do it on my own.ph14 wrote:What's the best way to go about this? I hear ya. I'm debating whether or not it's worth it to just attend the class so I actually stick to the schedule and don't get distracted by TV/Netflix. But if it's anything like the MPRE lecture video, I might want to watch it on 150% speed.ilovesf wrote:I'm missing the first day of my class, but as of right now, I plan on going to all of the classes because I don't have any drive to do it on my own.ph14 wrote:What's the best way to go about this? Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
Glad you feel it can help ! !
Remember, the CA Bar is NOT a law school exam.
Yes, a competent law school exam writer can do this for sure,
.... but knowing the approach I explain will simplify and guide everyone else.
I will be willing to help more if anyone wants it.
I will keep an eye on this thread.
For those looking for a SIMPLE and CLEAR pattern to follow to write passing essays..
PLEASE READ THROUGH THE LINKED THREAD ABOVE.
Starting at page 3. Just skim through and see the flow.
Come on back if you want more clarity.
Good luck folks. Work hard. Struggle. That is where the growth is.
Do not think "knowing the law" is enough.
You HAVE to present your essays in way the grader can see you know what you are doing,
And they will NOT read deeply to find it.
Your essays must have VISUAL IMPACT.
And, IRAC is your guide.
Onward !

Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
Anybody planning on taking a bar course at a location other than their law school? I just tried purchasing a summer parking pass for my Barbri class using the info Barbri gave, only to be told that I need to be a student of the university to purchase one. Ugh.
Also, I can't believe it's already May.

I'm intimidated by the bar. Signed up with Themis and feel good about that. I just hope I can stay motivated. This semester was a pit of despair, motivation-wise.

Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
Hello everyone..!
I have also registered with themis bar review and would be taking the July 2014 bar. I have initially registered as writers and now thinking of changing to laptop at century plaza hotel as I have borrowed one. I hope the centre is not full yet.
Also checkout adamshajnfeld weebly on google. His outlines are really good.

Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
To all the laptop users:
FYI: You have to "register" your laptop with the Bar.
You do it through downloading soft test.
And it must be done long before the test.
There is a cut-off date.
Watch for that to sneak up on you.
Find the "lap top use bulletin" on the CA Bar for more info.

I was wondering the same: when is the paced program starting?
I'm actually talking it online due to work reasons.

Look at the schedule for your testing location. I think a lot start sometime next week. Also, if you go to the paced program you can see that they have put up some stuff to do (AMPs) before the 1st day.

I just switched from online to the Berkley live international house, and now I finally see the paced program. Thanks a lot!

Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
I'm wondering how much of all the homework were realistically expected to do. I started looking at these assignments, and I'm amazed how much homework it is. Barbri should have alerted us that we would have had THAT much homework. It's hard to do it with graduation festivities going on, not to mention moving and such.

The AMPs? Or what? My place just lists AMPs so far but my course hasn't started yet.LSATNightmares wrote:I'm wondering how much of all the homework were realistically expected to do. I tried the AMPs totally bombed them. I think at this point that is the idea.

Are there any good outlines floating out there for either MBE or CA subjects that follow the Barbri lectures? I'd prefer not to make my own if I can avoid it.

I'm interested in this as well. I thought the Convisor Mini-Review was supposed to be an outline though? I haven't really dug through the materials yet. I paid thousands of dollars for all these books and they expect me to outline myself??ph14 wrote:Are there any good outlines floating out there for either MBE or CA subjects that follow the Barbri lectures? Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
I'd prefer a digital copy of the outline, personally. I guess we also have the fill in the blank outlines too, but that appears to be only for CA subjects? I haven't really looked through everything yet thoroughly either.bruinfan10 wrote:I'm interested in this as well. I thought the Convisor Mini-Review was supposed to be an outline though?
