I didn't calculate the LSDAS gpa, which I suspect to be lower b/c I took two years of community college and, well, aren't they all lower?

So those of you that are probable to head to OU what are you thinking in terms of a laptop for school? i am liking the offers available on OU's Apple store. I have been a PC guy for a long time, but I am starting to see the light for a Mac since I really don't get that in-depth into programming or any of that.

Anybody that has been accepted recently care to share when they submitted their apps? I submitted January 23rd (4 weeks ago tomorrow) and have yet to hear anything. I'm getting impatient to say the least.

I have seen the debate about the Early Admissions program, and from what I've been told it is more of a practice for students that have been out of school for a while than anything. OU wants to make sure that they are ready to hit the ground running come fall instead of taking half a semester to get their school legs back.

I suppose they could also use it to prep some students they feel might need the prep other than that. I personally see it as nothing but a positive.

i submitted my app in november and they got back to me in december. however, the reason it was so fast is because they told me that if i submitted it by the end of november, i would get an answer before christmas break, i guess that is one perk of being at OU undergrad is that communication with them has been really easy. as far as the summer program, the law students that i know and have talked to tell me that the summer program is for the less qualified people and it is set up for the people OU thinks are going to struggle during the first year. from what i could tell, the summer program is kind of looked down upon by most other law students.

Bolded is false. There are students from the top of our class to the bottom who went through the EAP.

Patrick, what are the opportunities for merit scholarships like in subsequent years at OU? I am wondering do you know many people who recieved additional scholarships and if so, do you know how much they were for? Thanks!

There are numerous scholarships available for continuing students. They vary in amount from $100 dollars to the Comfort Scholarship, which is a $5,000 scholly awarded to the top 10 students in the class after each year.

The biggest "scholarship" you get for continuing students comes in the form of the work opportunities for top 5-10%, who usually land paying gigs for the summer.

How much do you figure the $$$ for textbooks, horn books, parking permit and other supplements are going to cost a full-time 1L for a semester? Basically, the auxiliary things outside of tuition & fees.

How early do classes begin and how late are they held? I assume parking on a weekday isn't usually a problem (from the times I visited the LS, there were always ample spaces available).

good question, I would like to know too, since as I look at SMU they have at least $4K in fees that are not considered tuition.

no activity on here, anybody making their decision this week or next? I think my scholly deadline is March 5, so I am on crunch time. Anybody looked at the living situations in Norman lately?

The living situation in Norman is one of its best features. The cost of living in Oklahoma is virtually unbeatable. You can rent a nice two-bedroom house or condo in Norman for $700/month - less than that if you look around.

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and currently still and undergrad at OSU. I was interested in OU's Native American Law program, what kind of job prospects do you get from this specialty track and what are some of the starting salaries?

Sorry. 40 page appellate briefs kill your spare time.

Credited. I rent a room from a guy who owns the house and pay $400/mo all-inclusive.

Incidental fees will vary from person to person. For instance, if you are one of those people who has to have new textbooks to start on the first day of class plus two new supplements for each class, books will easily run you north of $1000 for the year. On the other hand, if you buy used textbooks and read the supplements at the library instead of buying them, you can literally pay less than $400 for all the textbooks you need for the year.

School-imposed fees hover around $4k, IIRC.

Classes start as early as 8a and run until 4p for 1Ls. I think there are a few upper level courses that start at 7:30a and a few that meet in the late afternoon (till 6p or so), but those are few and far between.

The year: fall + spring?

...and this one will be the most significant question asked for this thread: 12-font, NTR, dble-spaced?

Accepted! Got the call today. Via the Early admissions program. As long as everything goes well financially I'll be there!

Sucks that max in state tuition for Oklahoma is so low. Not a huge fan of taking on debt. I'd really like to go back to OU though. Congrats to everyone else going to OU.
