Take this for what it's worth, but when I visited in the spring, I sat in on one of Meazell's classes, and noticed that not a single person was using a laptop.

Where are you guys getting books? I'm guessing it's cheapest to order them online? Anyone looked at the bookstores yet?

I'm not sure about that particular set, but I'll ask around. I think it's in an earlier post somewhere, but half of my professors allowed laptops, half didn't. For others: Gensler, McCall and Palomar all allowed laptops. Richter, Coyne, and Wattley did not.

All professors allow laptops to be used during final exams.

I think it's safe to assume from that experience that Meazell does not allow laptops.

Books: Ratcliff's will have all of your books, UBS (the main campus book store) will have all of your books. Between the two places, you've got a good chance of getting them all used (read: slightly discounted). My advice: if you can find them online, get them there. The only drawbacks are flaky sellers and the very very slight chance you'll get shuffled to another section and be stuck with useless textbooks.

Finally, I'm going to be out of the country the next couple weeks. I'll try to check in with TLS and answer questions if I can find an internet cafe, but if I drop off the face of the earth, that's why. Cheers!

I'm in section 1 as well. Anyone else living near downtown OKC? I realize its not really ideal location-wise for school, and I'm sure I will get sick of the 25-30 minute drive each way, but my wife is going to have to commute once a week each way to Wichita to finish out the current contract she has until November and so it was a compromise we made as her commute is already going to be terrible enough as it is. Also I think the earliest section 1 class is at 10am so at least I won't be battling the rush hour traffic. Anyways there is a facebook page for section 1 if you haven't joined it yet. If you have problems finding it let me know and I will send you a link.

Take advantage of your commute and invest in some of the lectures on CD. The Civ Pro ones are excellent! I commute an hour each direction every day, so I feel your pain.

I am hoping to do exactly that. I figure I might as well take advantage of the 1hr a day I'm gonna spend in my car. Are there any specific version of the Civ Pro or others you would suggest?

if you have Swank, I would highly recommend Law school Legends (Freer). It was hands-down the best thing I EVER did!! I'm not a big fan of the Sum and Substance ones but some are.

I live in Moore and am in section 1. So if you ever want to car pool let me know. I did the summer program and another girl who lived in OKC at the time carpooled with me and it was helpful. We listened to lectures on CD there and back each day - also very helpful!

Has anyone heard anything about the meet-and-greet thing Thursday night? Specifically, are you bringing a spouse/significant other? Or is it just a student thing?

(I'm thinking maybe the people on Facebook have more inside information than I do, LOL.)

Definitely bring spouses/significant others. IIRC, there will be a keg or two and it's pretty loud and space is tight, so probably not the best environment for youngsters. Hope to see you guys there!

The only one I know in this section is Coyne, with whom I also had Con Law. Shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll send you what I have from last year. It's an entertaining class, to say the least, and doable.

Prof. Capel is Kanika Capel, and she's supposed to be a boss in the Civ Pro world. That said, this is Prof. Capel's first year, so no one knows exactly what to expect, other than that she's good. The rest of the professors I'm not sure about. But again, there aren't really any 'bad' professors to have, just some are outstanding as opposed to simply very good.

Awesome, thanks!

I'm starting to get pretty nervous. I forgot what it's like to live in a place where I don't know anyone. Throwback to starting college again, that's for sure!
