That implies that Bloomington itself isn't by far one of the best places to live in America. (Which it is.) There are so many things to do here it's crazy. Bloomington actually has more asian style karaoke places than the entire city of St. Louis has. That blew my mind when I moved here.

Besides, Bloomington's close proximity to Indianapolis, Louisville, Cinci, St. Louis, and Chicago is amazing placement. I have made weekend trips back home to St. Louis and I fully plan on doing the same to both Cinci and Louisville before all is said and done.

I mean I'm from Detroit, which is a clusterf**k in its own right. But there is something charming and quite unexpectedly enjoyable about living in a town like Bloomington. I hated it when I first got there, but once I lost my bias, I ended up loving it. It's much more a city lifestyle than many larger cities because its pedestrian friendly. I'd live in a town like Bloomington over a city like Jacksonville, FL any day.

Ah, I didn't mean to imply that. Bloomington is cool. Some of the best college towns are surrounded by nothingness.

Those Vault rankings are really surprising.

If you click on the school, you see this quote about IU students: "Students who do well here do well in the real world. It is a shame that they do not get as much of a chance."

That is a disconcerting statement.

Eh, I don't know, V. We already know everyone in the industry is a prestige whore gunner and quality law students outside the T14 don't get the same sort of chance at a Vault 100 firm. That's a pretty safe conclusion based on the numbers. (Well, maybe not the first part.) It was reassuring to hear that they do well in the real world. Nicer than some of the things said about grads from much higher (USNWR) ranked schools. Of course, all of that is anecdotal.

I was thinking today about my other options, mostly about W&L but I keep coming back to IUB. CA schools are not working out so far. I think I need a couple more weeks before figuring out where to visit, though.

The hardest part about making a decision is trying to do it with imperfect information and a situation that is in flux. You never know where else you might get in or who else might give you more money. Right now I don't feel as though I have any bad options. And even though I know there aren't any "wrong" choices, I can't help feeling as if there is a "right" choice.

I hate it when people say shit like "the middle of nowhere." Just because it's a smaller town doesn't mean it's nowhere. I personally like to be able to go outside and see trees that WEREn't artificially planted, thank you very much.

Hi, I have finally decided to make an account after months of reading everybody posts, especially "veritas". You just seem like a really cool guy rather than some of the jerks on this site. I applied to about 15 schools, and i'm only starting to hear back from these schools. I'm from California, but my prospects in CA doesn't seem so great. However, I would LOVE to go to Indiana. I have a 165, 3.7. Do you guys think it would be tactless if I send them a letter of intent before a decision has been made?

I think it's entirely unnecessary. You should get some money from them.

Hippo! Nice to meet you. Seems like we are in the same predicament, with CA prospects not really working out. As for your IU question, I would wait to send intent until you have your decision. I think you have a more than great shot at an acceptance and a nice scholarship packet!

(how are you feeling about moving to Indiana, btw? I'm still unsure about making the move myself)
