In the interest of openness, I got off the wait list late at IUB, and it was the best ranked school to take me. That said, I love it here in Bloomington so far.

1L Bloomington guys/gals.... question, what would you peg one's odds at admission if they are asked to participate in one of those interviews in DC or Chicago? Regardless of numbers... does this suggest considerable interest by the school?

Are these general interviews? Or do they ask you to attend the interview? I don't know, because I was never asked to interview. My understanding is that an interview means they want you, and you are in as long as you don't fuck it up. If it's close and you aren't completely socially awkward, I would recommend giving it a shot.

Also, on an unrelated note, I just got an email that "our application totals are up about 55% over last year!!"

Yes, there were two exclamation points. Wowza. I can only imagine this is due solely to the awesomeness of the 2012 class.

Here's what I got:

Dear FONZERELLI (edit),

We were thrilled to receive your application for admission! This year is shaping up to be the most competitive admissions year in the School's history and we hope you will jump at the chance to add more information to your file.

We invite you to participate in our Admissions Interview program. For the past several years we have offered interviews to applicants in the Washington D.C. and Chicago areas. We believe this program will help us find the students who will experience the best fit at Indiana Law, a school focused on collegiality and cooperation.

Interviews are not required but we believe they will provide an opportunity for both parties to learn more about the other, and to share information that can't be learned from a paper application or Web site. Each interview will be conducted with an Indiana Law alumnus or member of the Admissions Committee. Notes from the interview will be included in your file and may impact the Committee's final decision regarding admission and scholarships. Last year 20% of the class received full-tuition scholarships...each scholarship recipient was someone we had previously met and had personal contact with.

(edited the location) We will be able to interview approximately 40 students between 9 a.m. and 12 noon.

Please respond to this message prior to January 25 if you would like to arrange an interview time. If the 40 interview spots are filled early we will create a waitlist.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

Sounds like you should go. Only 40 students sounds like more of a targeted thing, and as I mentioned before, my understanding is these are people they want and just want to weed out a few people. You would probably do yourself a disservice if you were the only one out of 40 who didn't attend.

Maybe someone who went to one of the interviews would be able to better answer this question though (if any of them made it  )

Right on - well I responded and I'm going. We'll see what happens! Interviews are definitely a strong suit so this can only be good. I'm wondering what I should do to prepare though - what type of questions/discussion do you think they're going to throw at me?

It's going to be like A Few Good Men, they're going to grill you on how much you packed and what phone calls you had made in the last 24 hours.

Seriously though, I'd guess just plan on being answerable for everything in your resume, what in your numbers might be weak, "why law school?" and "why IU?" seem likely. If you applied because of a fee waiver, never let on about that.

 Glad they didn't interview me. I didn't even look at IU before they sent me a fee waiver. Weird how stuff works out.

I would just cover the bases: "I'm interested in X", "I hate Perdue", comical joke, and anything showing you have good character. I would think something like "If you accept me, I will attend." would be looked on pretty well by whoever is interviewing. Like an in person LOCI.

Another reason to attend: we just got a new coffee machine, and it's pretty awesome.

What are you numbers fonzerelli? Looking at the median where do you match up?

Those numbers right there seem to be the best indication of the type of interview. Whether it is merely looking for reassurance from median-fringe candidates or are looking to give you money (and just want to be assured of your social ability).

Anyway, good luck.

Did they hand out fee-waivers in the billions last year?

This year, everyone scoring over 160 seems to have gotten a patented Indiana Law fee waiver. Not surprised applicants are up, with the economy+fee waivers+News and Review uptick. Yield and applicant pool are going to be crazy.

Must have. I didn't get my fee waiver until after the Maurer donation. I think the money is being used in part to send out fee waivers. Most other schools do the same thing, so no reason why Indiana can't do it as well.

I am interested as to what the numbers will be looking like on USNews this year and next.

If that's true...what a load of crap. I'm going to remain hopeful that we can at least get our Bethel grade back soon. That exam was nearly five weeks ago.

Boshkoff is releasing his "memo" on the exam sometime this week, so i assume that means I will be getting my K's grade back soon.

This is absurd. I know for a fact my K's and Torts profs turned in the grades to teh Recorder on Wed, and my LRW prof claimed she turned in grades as well. I don't get why nothing has been released

I think we've actually been able to avoid knowing each other. I think Im pretty identifiable though being one of only a handful of California natives, and everytime I wear a giants shirt or hat around campus I think i further give away who i am lol.

I'm not so sure. I keep looking for Tim Lincecum in the hallways and coming up short.

I wish. I can say as of a few hours ago, there was no one in the recorder's office. Sounds to me like they don't give a fuck. Considering the economic climate, the increased competition with other applicants is greater than it was, and they would try and get us our grades quickly considering we will be trying to get some summer internships.

Imagine a pack of wolves picking apart the barely existent remains of an animal. While other students are getting what small amount exists, we are half a mile away licking our balls :?

And Monday is MLKJ day. Every positive job response ive recieved has asked for grades and writing sample, this really sucks.

I really have no reason to think Shreve or Hoff are even close to being done though anyways.
