I couldn't imagine lower than like a B, B-.

Also, I know we just finished, but when will we have all our grades in?

She's so sweet, I couldn't imagine lower than like a B, B-. I have no idea though. Anyone feel free to correct me.

Also, I know we just finished, but when will we have all our grades in?
1L? if so, you are too sober to be asking that. You should be drunk on life right now, or even just plain old drunk.

2L? You should know better.

3L? Does it even matter at this point?

Open your calendar. Go to the current date. Flip down a few pages. Point to any date.

You'll get your grades at some point after that.

jesus, if you're a 1L get offline, the last day of finals for 1L semester was literally the best time ever in law school.

There is a set deadline, you'll get an email about it probably in early January. Back in the day it was January 31st, but I think they moved it up to January 15th or something for 1Ls recently.

~75% of grades will come the day before or day of the deadline.

Does "booking classes" exist at UVA? If so, how do they tell you?

No, it doesn't. You can get an A+ which is roughly the same thing, but more than one person can get it.

1L wondering about swapping classes out. Right now I'm signed up to take fed income tax and insurance and I'm worried that will be overwhelming. Any recommendations?

Don't be worried about insurance. It's a pretty straightforward class and I thought the reading was always pretty light. Or else it didn't take long to get through. That class was kind of a break from the heavier classes I took spring of my 1L year.

Yeah the insurance workload was relatively light and isn't particularly complex.

It's a little B+ heavy but nothing crazy.

if you like abraham you're fine; if you don't like abraham or are gunning for a 4.0 get out of both of them

Help me out older UVA bros.

So far I have two grades back - median pwned. Two more grades to go, and I am anticipating median for those as well. :( I thought I took TLS advice as far as exam taking, but looks like I flopped so I'm kind of lost.

How screwed should I feel right now? Drop out now? (here on 75k scholly, URM).

Deep introspection time. Are you normal? Sociable? Can you at least pass at being both of those for 20 minutes, then 4 hours, than around 3 months? If so, you'll be fine. If your interview skills arent hot, you may have a hard time.

You'll also have to be okay with not being able to crack markets like DC, SF, Chicago, and the like.

I wouldnt drop out

I'll probably work a lot with KD to perfect my interview skills. He's told me that he thinks with my personality/resume/he alluded to race as well, that I should be okay around median.

So you don't think NYC is out? That was my biggest concern.

NYC is definitely not out. Only some firms in NYC are

URM at median? Dude you'll be fine. And you only have 2 grades in. You have 6 to go before OCI. Calm down. There are tons of plain and boring non-URMs who get fine Biglaw jobs below median.

Is there a running list of classes that have grades out/submitted (think there was something similar last semester)?

It used to be that if the course review were available, that meant the grade was up (or coming shortly). Not sure if still true

Partly true. Any course that has an evaluation up right now in LawWeb has grades up in SIS. However, not all courses which have grades up in SIS have evaluations up.

Ex: Mitchell's Evidence has evaluations up and grades up; Jim Donovan's Corporate Strategy has grades up but doesn't have evals up.

Go to the prof you want to RA for and say "hey dude/dudette, need an RA this summer?" (adapt for stuffiness of professor)

Edit: Some will post on simplicity, but the easiest way is getting in contact with the prof directly and just asking. Some may ask for a resume/transcript/writing sample.
