Nah, you're absolutely right about this. Ideally, I'd get a place on Arlington and walk to class, but I'm afraid I've missed the boat with Jeffersonian. Are there any other reasonably-priced places on Arlington you know of?

The entire road is nothing but reasonably priced apartment buildings and a taco bell. The Jeffersonian is the cheapest, but there are others. Woodard Properties owns at least two, many others are privately owned and rented.

Just found a nice place at a new complex on Arlington. So, if I were to lease a 3/3 for $760 a month, would it be difficult to find two roommates before August?

That depends on you lol

That new apartment complex doesnt match people up? that is surprising to me... I would ask them. Do you sign a lease for a room or the whole unit and have to fill it yourself?

If it's the one I think you're talking about, the complex does the roommate matching unless you already have people that you want to live with.

Do any 2Ls or 3Ls have the Chem Con Law Supp. I am still looking to buy one, the PILA sale was out by the time I got there.

I'm curious to see how that new place does. I'm sure it'll be really nice, and the prices including most of the utilities and stuff aren't as bad as I thought they'd be, but a 2 bedroom is still going to run you about 200 more a month than Ivy, including utilities, or 300 for Jeffersonian.

Well, that turned out to be a bust after all -- I though it'd be $750 per apartment, not per room. I was dreaming. Too 'spensive.

Is there any hope of getting a room in Jeffersonian if I missed the New Years application rush?

You can't get your own, but there might be people that have a lease (1Ls or above) that are looking for a roommate. Poke around the FB site and the UVA roommate exchange, you might find something.

Thank you Sky! It hit me earlier how ideal living on Arlington would be, so I'm scrambling. Feels weird apartment hunting six months out.

Ivy Gardens is also more than serviceable, and a ton of 1Ls live there. It has the added benefit of being very large, so it's easier to sign a lease there closer to spring.

By what point should those of us with nothing lined up this summer throw in the towel and look for a professor to RA with?

March?

That seems about right. Did you apply to February OGI? Also, don't panic. I think RAing is a little underrated as options go. You get paid, work your own hours, and if you do well you get a strong recommendation from someone who really gets to know you. Plus you can avoid double rent, and there are worse places to be than Cville for the summer. RAing is really not a bad gig.

Oh I'm fine with it. It was just a back up to the white whale of a 1L SA.

It seems much more appealing to me (someone entirely firm focused) than judicial internship or PI

Still missing 3 grades. One of my "submit exam" links is still active, meaning that my final hasn't even been printed out yet. It's been almost a month. What are professors doing?!

Looking for RAs to grade exams?

Researching how the new rules on class medians can be factored into the stairwell method of grading?

Writing the syllabus for the class they started teaching a week and a half ago?

Starting this semester, if the average incoming GPA of students in a given class is above 3.35, the professor has the option of setting the curve at that average.

A friend of mine was talking to a prof who mentioned that there's an understanding among the professors that they shouldn't release too early. The earliest profs to release might have students come in and talk to them about their grade, while profs who release at around the deadline (together with all the other profs) don't face the same issue for whatever reason. I also occasionally wonder if profs mouth "gunner" at each other when they see another professor who released really early and screwed up student expectations for everyone else.

It seems kind of pointless to have a different deadline for 2L/3L grades than 1L grades, though. I understand why they wanted to push 1L grades forward, but they could have just moved it up for everyone.
