Yes, B in 2012 had none. I'd be curious how much a section's professors affect things. If a section has an above average number of professors with huge B+ curves, such as Abraham, or conversely, an above average number of professors who award A+ grades, I suspect that would make a noticeable difference since 1L GPA is based off so few grades.

It's no biggie, but I still remember the incoming 1L who cold-emailed various people on Law Review, and that was just from word of mouth.

Oh no, wasn't trying to be that guy. Thanks for the heads up though.

If memory serves me right, Section G had Abraham and still managed to sneak 8 in.

F has 8 as well, and shared Abraham's torts with G.

There's no way that Abraham gave 1/4 of the class above median grades...

Assuming that the majority of G/F folks didn't write on, one would think that this would make for a relatively low cut-off

Without going into details, I know for a fact that the cutoff was in the same range as years past.

I was basically working off the assumption that at least some of the G/F people would have gotten a B+/A- from Abraham

Have any of you had any success with establishing residency in VA? Or know if anyone who has? Is it common or uncommon for people to establish residency and change to in-state tuition after 1L? Thanks.

I have not looked into it, but I've heard that unless you are married, it's next to impossible to establish residency while in school.

So the cutoff was somewhere between 3.71-3.75.

Given the cutoff, every G/F person in Abraham's torts class could have received B+/A- and still got in. For those who had a B+, two As (in 4-credit classes) puts them in contention, and for those who had an A-, one A (in a 4-credit class) puts them in contention.

Let's also not forget that almost half the spots go to write-ons and diversity statement. But yeah, you can get a B+ and still easily make VLR.

Hmm. I'm guessing you need to show you plan on living there permanently and not just for school.

Has anyone taken Fed Income Tax with Robinson and care to comment on the class (or pm me)? I can't believe PR with Balnave is filled, and I ranked it 2nd.

Also, would it be a bad idea to take securities reg in Fall as a 2L, or would that be a bad idea because of call backs?

Just a reminder to keep things in context: your GPA is waaaay more important than Law Review and many people who grade onto Law Review don't get Coif while some people who don't grade onto Law Review get Coif.

Where does the Coif cutoff fall, generally?

Supposedly low to mid 3.6's. Everyone's gpa's drop over the course of 3 years.
