I could start the blog if there's demand.

I demand it! Jk...anyone else?

I've checked the old one a few times, hoping that somebody else has taken it over. But alas, nothing.

Let's say I'll have about $130K in debt when I am finished with law school. Is UVA a good financial decision? Will I be able to find a job where I can pay back loans in a reasonable amount of time (I guess the higher paying the better in the beginning, so I can get rid of said loans.) I love the school so that's not an issue, but I don't care about school environment NEARLY as much as I care about healthy job prospects, especially in NY/DC/LA (the bigger the city the better.) I work like a dog to get good grades. Since I'm sure this has been discussed before, yes or no answers will suffice. TL;DR: is UVA law a good financial decision with $130K debt?

the reason i ask is that, ITE, i hear all over these boards that a t6 is a good place to be still, Cornell and GULC are not, and the other t14s (MVPND) are...well....i'm not sure, so i'm asking.

Generally, yes.
Will I be able to find a job where I can pay back loans in a reasonable amount of time
Generally, yes.
I work like a dog to get good grades.
This means very little, just so you know. So does everyone else. And amount of work is not correlated with grades at a top law school nearly as much as you might think.

Not being new to this site, you should know that little more can really be said on the topic. UVA does have a fairly good LRAP (you must enroll in IBR, any legal job qualifies, they pay the amount of the full IBR payment for incomes up to 55K, and they pay a sliding scale up to 75K), so you won't end up completely jacked over. Lots of people have BigLaw offers, but plenty who would like to do not. I'll leave here with $300K+ in debt, and I'm happy with my decision.

I feel like MVPB are interchangeable so just go for whatever makes the most financial sense. CG is a bit below and you may have to fight for the bet jobs. If you don't have to pay a lot more for V and MPB is not in play I would go V.

Um, have we gotten so distracted by other matters that we have forgotten to complain that nearly all of the remaining 1L evals went up yesterday morning, and we still have not a hint of new grades? SRO, WTF?

what about working in large cities if i don't get biglaw? i mean, i know CoL would suck, but working in a large city is important to me. i've heard UVA has an advantage in its proximity to DC - is this true? any other thoughts?

i know. the reason i said this was so it would be clear that i don't expect a nice job being handed to me upon graduation at a t10 school

I know it's a big deal, but the pay off could be really good. You are going to have debt anyway, the job prospect at T10 is worth it, IMO. There are also a lot more things you can do in school to become more competitive post grad, just learn the ropes and work it right, it will help you.

We shall talk about this at the open house ;)
