:? I retook a 168.

173 isn't an outlandishly high score and at a 168 you're still making some fundamental mistakes that can be corrected with additional study.

OP, or anyone else who knows, I know there is an environmental program at UVA, do you know anything about it?

As in, the quality or amount of classes?

Also, how do you think a 3.93(science)/164 would fare with an ED app?

Some people are able to do what you suggested (and apparently did yourself), but it is sort of silly to say, essentially, "Just raise your score nearly an entire standard deviation, and all your problems will disappear!"

Subtle trolling. A science major conflating amount and number? Your chicanery won't work on this gentleman.

What are you talking about? It was a very simple question.

And in what way did I conflate amount and number? I would like to know for future reference so I don't confuse anyone like you anymore.

Amount is used for things that can't be counted, or for money.
Number is used for discrete things that can be counted.

You can count the "number" of environmental classes, as each one is distinct, so it should have been "quality or number of classes."

Also, I'm pretty sure it was just a joke. 164/3.93 ED has a chance, especially early on. Don't get your hopes up too high though; also, a 3.93 in a science leads me to believe you could do better than a 164. Retake if you can.

Ah, I see what you are saying. I also know amount to act as a sum of a certain category. In this case I was referring to the sum of the environmental classes. I suppose I was wrong though, thank you for your correction.

Would it be a good plan to both apply ED and retake?

I only ask this because if I retake and my second LSAT is not far better than my first, won't my slim chance from ED already be impossible? Leaving me to the normal cycle, in which my chances at many of the T14s will be nil?

I'm not sure I follow what you're asking. You can ED to UVA until March, if that matters.

The posted deadline last year was 12/15. The extension until March came out of nowhere. There's no guarantee it will happen again next cycle.

From what I understand, they were getting ready to implement ED until March in this upcoming cycle, but last cycle noticed that GULC extended theirs and figured, why couldn't they just do it then too, so they did it. It was considered successful and should be back.

Have you heard anything about the possible implications of overenrolling 2-3 years in a row to RD or ED admissions?

Well, the last two cycles in a row the following has happened:

1) UVA realizes they slightly overenrolled the prior year.

2) The adcomms try to make up for this by reducing the number of admissions they make (in total, RD + ED), with the intention of underenrolling and making up the gap via the waitlist. As a result they create an enormously large WL, fully intending to use it.

3) The deposit/matriculation rate ends up so much higher than the last cycle that even having cut their offers they still manage to overenroll slightly, and barely get to admit anyone at all off the WL.

They're not terribly overenrolled right now, it's over but manageable, so they'll probably just do again what they did before: Cut the number of offers they make, for the third year in a row, and hope that this time they've cut it enough that they won't overenroll again. The problem is it's hard to predict, since these last couple cycles have been so crazy...

Sometimes I wonder how many of the staff and professors at UVA have figured out who I am. It can't be hard, if they're paying attention to this place. Oh well.

Considering the fact that TLS has interviewed Trujillo, it is likely.

Honestly, it's vanwinkle... you should never doubt him. Also, in all seriousness, it's not that hard to figure out if you have been keeping up with TLS and actually go to UVA.

Oh, I don't mind it at all, just curious really. Mostly curious because I don't know how big TLS is in the law school community, since I've never really talked to too many people about it.
