I have no clue about teaching quality, but Yin had a good (for your purposes) curve the last time I checked.omg wrote:tax peeps: yale or yin? (based on quality of teaching and how spread out their curves are)

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
After seeing a lot of people study for the course last semester, it's something I want to avoid entirely. Looks like a horrible subject (sorry sealocust). No idea how grading works--Yale's exam was 75% multiple choice though, which is certainly unusual. I probably will do Antitrust with "Admiral Nachbar."omg wrote:Hahaha, Cav, please elaborate! Re: UVA 2L taking questions
Yin was former lord God and commander of the joint committee on taxation, and has a lot of great anecdotes. He's a great teacher and had an often funny and relaxed attitude, but tax is objectively an awful, awful subject and he definitely also has moments of intensity.

Is taking Coportation, Bankrupcy, Secured Transactions, and two 1 credit seminars too light of a load for 2L fall?

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
Taking only three real courses is definitely a light workload, but 12 credits is fine--I did that my 2L fall. That said, with OGI occurring so early, 2L fall is not as crazy as a lot of people make it out to be, assuming the job search doesn't drag on too long. Callbacks generally occur in the first two or three weeks of classes (and some occur even before classes begin), so the process is likely to wrap up early on. You may want to take more credits in the fall to give yourself an easier second half of law school.jawsthegreat wrote:Is taking Coportation, Bankrupcy, Secured Transactions, and two 1 credit seminars too light of a load for 2L fall?

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
Unless you're really, really into that stuff, that could be an incredibly dense and boring semester. I would consider swapping 1 of those classes out for a more, um, entertaining class.*jawsthegreat wrote:Is taking Coportation, Bankrupcy, Secured Transactions, and two 1 credit seminars too light of a load for 2L fall?
*NB - if this is what really floats your boat then go for it; I took 3-4 doctrinal classes/semester 2L year.

Might not be able to get into Negotiation Institute as a 2L

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
Advice for 2Ls: don't bet on getting many 1 or 2 credits courses. They tend to go quickly, especially the 1 credit courses. Put the one you want the most at the top of your list and hope for some good luck.
I think I'll take Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday off this semester. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

Re: UVA 2L taking questions
If we get the courses we want, we'll be seeing a lot of each other. Seems a little light on doctrinal classes for my taste, but I'm not in a position to judge whether that matters at all.bgdddymtty wrote:Thoughts on the following schedule?

Maybe he was interesting in the 2/3 of the class meetings you didn't attend.RVP11 wrote:Take ONE class with him.
