The law school and the undergrad are all on the same campus. Just walk about 2 minutes towards the middle of campus and you are on the undergrad side.

As far as Winston-Salem as a whole, I think if you read this thread and visit you'll learn a lot. It's a decent sized town with some good restaurants. I think everyone should visit a school before they agree to go. Every person is looking for different things and people at schools. Visiting a school is invaluable in my opinion. There are a lot of people from the south, not necessarily from NC. But because it is a private school you can expect a lot more people from different states, even Florida.

The closest airport is GSO in Greensboro

I have a former Professor who just so happens to also be a judge and a graduate of Wake. She is hell-bent on me applying to Wake- to the extent that she refuses to write a LOR to any other school. However, I really can’t see the benefit in doing so, especially when there is Duke. With that being said, my question is why Wake vs. say... Duke?

Scholly $. Other than that, there is no reason to go wake>duke (this is coming from a wake student). Well maybe not NO reason...

Theres also the whole recent thing about class rank > prestige of school, and, we're going to imagine you could do better at wake. So keep those two things in mind.

HOWEVER, if you are good enough of friends with this judge person, and depending on what type of judge she is, and you think she can get you a job, go to wake on a scholly and use her to land you a job.

Wow - this thread does a great job of answering just about any question!

I have two (probably strange) questions:

One thing that I wonder about is the study carrels. MY UG was tiny and the students took for granted the ability to leave books/study materials/laptops at their study carrels in the library. Is this something that happens at Wake?

Also, are there good places to nap between classes?

People leave lots of stuff (books, study material, etc.) at their carrels, and we don't seem to have a problem with people taking anything. Lots of people (such as TAs) will tell students that they can take stuff (such as study materials) off the TAs' desks if the students need them even if the TAs aren't around. There is a place on the carrel to "lock-down" laptops in case you need to leave for a little while. Overall, they seem to be pretty safe, and you likely won't run into any problems leaving things in a carrel.

As for napping, lots of folks live close to campus, so they just go back home between classes. The carrels are also pretty quiet, so you probably wouldn't have any trouble napping there. There are plenty of picnic tables outside where you can just sit and relax (and nap too I guess).

If I'm Jewish do you consider that a URM and I get in easier?

We have students from all over. Off the top of my head I can think of California, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, South Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mass, Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina. Everyone gets along really well. I really like that sections are so small (about 40 in each of the 4 sections) cause we really get to know everyone. And since the whole class is pretty small, I know a majority of the class, and I've met a lot of the 2Ls and 3Ls.

I don't really think religion is much of an issue. I don't think it really comes up.

I'm really glad I came to Wake. I think picking a law school is a personal decision. If you want prestige, go to a high ranked school. If you want a large school, then go to a large school. If you want a small school, then go to a small school. You have to be happy over the next 3 years of school. I highly recommend visiting a school so that you can really see what a school is like. Sit in on a class, talk to students, etc. If you can come for a weekend, see if someone is willing to show you around.

For the 2L-3L folks on here: when do exam grades generally come out? I know at lots of schools it's not until late January or early February, but I thought you guys might could give a slightly more definitive answer.

It'll probably be the last week of December or early early January at the latest. Definitely before we come back for school. Some might even be done by next week.

When I start seeing mine up, I'll let you know!

Here's a question you probably don't see very often...

I got into Wake for fall 2011. I have a guarantee that I won't be mobilized for two years starting in February 2011, but after that, I'm fair game. Will Wake Forest work with me if I get deployed to Afghanistan for a year in the middle of law school? Do you know law students who have done it before?

Thanks!

I would assume that is a situation they would work with you about. Girls have gotten pregnant and taken a semester off and come back, so I would think going to Afghanistan would be a good reason.

But, like I tell everyone call the admission office. They are so helpful and will answer all of your questions. Don't be afraid that they'll think you're annoying or call all the time.

Don't worry the wait is usually the worst part. Fearing grades is usually much worse than the grades themselves.

Where do they post them? Also, do they tell you you're class rank or w/e once they have all the grades?

The grades are posted on WIN under transcript. BUT every year there is a new way to find them earlier, but the tech people seem to catch on and try to switch it up on us. As soon as I hear word on Worrell Street about a quicker way, I'll let you know.

Nope. I don't. GKW is my guy too. Haha. I've spent the entire weekend trying to learn Civ Pro via the E&E, Acing Civ Pro, and the KLK. Hoping something will stick by Tuesday.

Snap, you are behind the 8-ball now. I hope you can catch up. Ive got approx 1h 45 minutes of stuff memorized to spit out on the exam. (Thats how long it takes me to type it out at least, and Im not a slow typer) It will probably get to 2 hours once I add all the choice of law crap. The past two days have been absolute hell. Time to type out PJ, venue, and notice..... :?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
