How do we know which room we are in for our interviews? Is that something we learn on the day we get there?

I would contact OCS about this.

I did the same thing. OCS will attach your resume, but they told me some of the resume packages have already been sent out, and therefore I should make sure to have a bunch to hand out when I get to AJF.

Arbiter or whoever's not a rising 2L - -

In your year, were the people who struck out clearly because they couldn't interview to save their lives, or do you think it was more GPA-oriented than anything (as in, even the awkward-as-fuck people got offers if their GPA was high enough)?

Or was it Law Review or bust?

Rising 2L, but from what I've gleaned from every associate I've talked to, I imagine that once you're above the firm cutoff, individual results vary based on fit and long-term goals. Ergo, YMMV depending on the firm.

It was not this, in any case.

I know people with above median GPAs who struck out, and I know people with bad GPAs who did extremely well for themselves.

All about fit and how much they like you, then? Must've been Lincoln's year with the LR or bust stigma.

lol

FYI: most people who get dinged cannot tell you with any appreciable accuracy why they got dinged.

Yeah I was asking people who did *not* strike out, but know friends who did. People who struck out are not gonna blame their deathly awkwardness, for example.

How many people do you know of that struck out at AJF last year? The assurances of "don't worry, you'll get a job" not that comforting when "eleventy-billion" keeps e-mailing the class about unemployment.

Did you reach out to your home market this summer? Still not to late to do so if your worried. I'm one of the few that doesn't want NY so it really came down to me working my home market. Might not be a bad back up plan.

Deathly awkwardness? At Cornell? Are you sure you have the right school in mind?

signed up today for a couple firms at AJF that I had bid high but missed out on... one of them is directly after another interview I already have scheduled. Anybody know how late i'll probably be to the back-end of the back-to-back or is this pretty common/doable?

Enthusiasm is key.

Also, don't talk shit about Ithaca, your professors, classes, classmates, home market, summer firm, etc. For example, if they ask you what class you liked the least don't say, "Class X because the professor was a moron." (And yes, someone basically said this last year. Needless to say, it did not end well.) Alternatives to that answer would include something like, "I didn't like class X as much as class Y because [insert why you liked Y more]." Remember, no one wants to work with a Negative Nancy.

I struck out, I didn't take it seriously because it wasn't what I wanted. (side note, it was great interview practice and I totally recommend that PI minded people do it. I also did fine in the PI realm of 2L internships so I guess technically I didn't "strike out"). I think there were a couple of other PI types that used it for practice too, so I think that explains a couple of the folks who struck out last year.

Ask Career Services. Normally that's a schedule conflict, so make sure that they say you have enough time.

I kinda figured that would out me, maybe not though since there were definitely a couple of us like that at OCI. I also only have a guess as to who everyone is and I'm pretty sure its totally wrong.
