Hey TLS Cornell people! Anyway, my sister graduated from Cornell a few years ago and I'm trying to get rid of her books. Most of them are still in use. Here is a link to my post in the buy/sell forum so as not to clog up this thread. I am selling everything here for VERY VERY VERY CHEAP.

are all the required 1L books for sale on-campus at the cornell bookstore?

are the prices on amazon generally fair for new books?

i've lagged on buying books and am just starting, don't really know where to start in terms of not getting ripped off paying sticker for all of them.

1L here too but I can chime in.

1. yes - go to the store online, click on "buy textbooks" and your book list will be there in full. I ordered mine online and picked em up in person.

2. It depends. Generally for new ones they are priced about the same, but I found my contracts casebook from an independent seller on amazon for brand new about 70 bucks cheaper than it was listed anywhere else.

thanks!

Hmm, okay. Well, does anyone know where I could pick up an outline? Maybe an organization has it?

Joining clubs for outline banks is how it works, generally. BLSA's is supposedly among the best.

I'd relax. Y'all don't need outlines right away and upperclassmen are happy to share if you ask.

2Ls - Any reviews of note taking software? Any free programs that aren't terrible? Is LexisNexis NoteMap useful for note taking, outlining, or neither?

Paid
OS X - Circus Ponies: Very good.
Windows - One Note: Very good.
OSX & Windows - Word in Note Layout view: Adequate.

Free

Any platform - OpenOffice: haven't used for notes, haven't heard of anyone using it.

Mac also has evernote- I prefer MS Word's notebook mode, but evernote seems like it's good.

Personally, I don't like evernote. You cannot easily rearrange notes without resorting to copy—paste—adjust-indent-level (and by "you cannot" I mean I have no clue how to do it and cannot find any help online).
