Would one of you fine folks be able to comment on these professors for upper level stuff?

Chantal Thomas (any class, but especially Jurisprudence)
Chafetz
Garvey for upper level stuff

I know Garvey doesn't like the White Collar Defense that he's teaching, so that's probably not a good sign.

He doesn't? Where'd you get that? Not at all the impression I got from discussing it with him.

That's true, I overheard him say that after class one time.

My bad, I overheard Garvey say that he wasn't a big fan of his Corporate and White Collar Crime class.

ETA: Maybe we misunderstood his comments, but he made the remark in relation to teaching Crim Law. That is, Crim Law was the class that he really liked teaching and seemed more enthusiastic about it.

Hmm. Perhaps I should reconsider my schedule.

if i'm signed up for direct deposit through the bursar, when will financial aid be disbursed? the site says ~10 days before classes start/3rd week of august, but i thought i remember reading someone saying they received theirs a few days after classes started.

10 days sounds correct.

Federal Income Tax professors R. A. Green [fall], L. Kahng [spring].

Which one is less painful?

No idea who Kahng is, but Kahng is my recommendation.

Green that bad?

Does anyone know how it would look to apply to the same firm in say your home market, NYC, and maybe another market? Would each individual firm know you applied in 3 markets?

I took that course with him and thought it was pretty solid.

Well, so someone RECOMMENDED that I took it with Green. So I did. I took the class pass-fail so wasn't ever really like giving it 100% anyway. But I found him absurdly difficult to follow. He also has a horrible habit of misspeaking and miscalculating things. He's a brilliant dude, but, in my opinion, a pretty ineffective prof. Obviously reasonable minds can disagree since he was actually recommended to me. But in my opinion, he was among the worst professors I had at Cornell.

Depends on how the firm's hiring operates.

Is that information readily available?

You really don't need to worry about this yet, .. but yes, ... sometimes. Check the firm's website or the listed recruiters on NALP, if they're listed on NALP. Are there multiple contacts for each state?

1. You won't have time for that shit as a 1L
2. Obviously, there's a law school.

0L gunner identified.

Seriously, though, there are enough campus groups and programs to get involved in. Stop worrying about this stuff now.

I have no work experience, so I would use this to hopefully help boost my resume
