Yeah, all I want to say is that this is the worst section for me to give advice about. Can't really say anything about any of them, except that Taylor is new.

Clermont wrote the book (literally) on Civ Pro. Loves his powerpoint. Doesn't cold call much, but you have to do the reading or you have no clue what's happening (and sometimes you don't even if you did the reading).

Wendel is the bomb, especially if it's a small section. Loves class discussion, but isn't crazy abt the cold calls. Sometimes he's a bit too "getting to maybe" with policy instead of telling you the rule, but I loved his class and thought his exam was the most fun of any I did in law school (and I did more than most people).

freer's treatise for civ pro was more useful than chemerinsky's con law (both very useful). You can usually sell both of these back to amazon and get at least half of what you paid back. I would also highly recommend trying to get your hands on some bar prep stuff early in the semester, like the barbri 1L videos and some bar flash cards or something. Having the rules spelled out and explained by someone who isn't trying to hide the ball from you would probably be really helpful.

While we're on the topic of hornbooks:

The first rule is do what works for you. With that caveat, after using hornbooks for basically every class during 1L I soon gave that up and think I used one during all of 2L and 3L. I also wrote basically all my own outlines during 2L and 3L. This was the case for several of my friends (and many of my current coworkers), all of whom did very well in law school.

I'm pretty sure she's actually taught at Cornell before. I believe that some of her exams will be on file from the past. Heard she's tough from an associate at my firm.

When I was 18 I was charged with a public drunkenness which is a misdemeanor. The officer respected me somewhat because I cooperated and did not give me an underage drinking which would have suspended my license. When I was 20 I received a DUI in the state of New Jersey. In New Jersey a DUI is only a traffic offense not criminal, I'm not entirely sure that makes a difference though. Being that a DUI is a DUI, the jurisdiction in which I was convicted in does not change the fault. Six months after my DUI I received an Minor in possession of Alcohol (MIP) and now have that on my record. So overall on my record I have two misdemeanors, a public drunkenness and a MIP. The DUI is not on my criminal record, but it is on my traffic script. So what I am getting at is, will this hold me back from being admitted to law school. My GPA is a 3.3 and has a great chance to be higher since I am only a Junior. I will obviously disclose everything on my applications and hopefully I do very well on the LSAT. Should I be stressing out as much as I am, because quiet frankly this has been the only thing on my mind

Freed is super nice. She's pretty good. Litigated for a long time. Just go to class and work with ta's and see her if you need. Nothing significant to say. Oh, her curve is the worst. Highest % b+

Eagen is super nice but also a bit of a hardass for lawyering. Don't come into class hungover or she will hold it against you; also make sure you hand in hard copies of assignments on time or there'll be hell to pay (she doesn't do online submissions unlike every other lawyering professor I've heard of, or at least didn't last year).

Also prepare yourself for really bad sports metaphors comparing law school to running a marathon.

Polished this up for you. Great advice for people entering law school although some of it should be assumed considering it's a professional program.

Atlas doesn't do online submissions either. And I know of one person who handed in a memo literally one minute late and it got marked as late.

Atlas doesn't do online submissions either. And I know of one person who handed in a memo literally one minute late and it got marked as late.

Not to mention I still find documents on my comp with the weirdest margin settings that I used as default for lawyering memos once I figured out what actually printed to 1" margins on the reading room printer (which no longer exists).

Probably should get the new edition for that class. Shit changes in civ pro all the time. Although I've seen people be fine with the old editions of both. His class focuses more heavily on the text of the book than any other class 1L year probably.

Johnson is great. Super old school and intimidating. Its one of those classes that you have to read really closely for, but she actually doesn't assign that much reading for con law, as compared to other professors. Heard Bowman is a terrible teacher and doesn't really understand Torts. Never had her tho. Whelan is great for lawyering. I didn't have her, but have heard positive things from everyone who has.
