So, some of you may have seen a thread I posted earlier, but I was curious what some current 1Ls think.

Just got a nomination for Peace Corps in the Caribbean. Attempting to get a 3 year deferral from Cornell. Have no idea if they'll approve it.

Comments?

If you're worried/ curious as to what 1L will be like, netflix The Paper Chase and read the following:

- One L, by Scott Turrow
- Law School Confidential, by Robert Miller
- Getting to Maybe, by Richard Michael Fischl and Jeremy Paul

All of the following will help you with understanding how to study, what kinds of social, emotional, and physical stresses you can anticipate, and most importantly, remembering that a ton of people have been through the challenge before and survived.

The Paper Chase was terrible and the depiction of law school classes in it are completely inaccurate.

Ok, Kingsfield's class is a little extreme. There is nothing that scary here, although 2nd semester civ pro with BHS is close. Also, not everyone has mustaches.

Everything else is pretty much on par, including the complicated love interest with a member of the faculty's daughter.

You can barely pick it up in some, like the second-floor classrooms, but trust me, you'll thank the school for the policy once you do catch wireless and not a word the professor says.
