List of Market-Paying NYC Firms?

Post by paradiselost9 » Sun Nov 04, 2018 6:40 pm

How many firms pay market (or follow suit) in NYC? Does anything exist approaching a comprehensive list?

The V100 is a good place to start. Of course, there are some exceptions, so always check NALP for any firms of interest, particularly if the firm is toward the end of the V100. Most market-paying firms publish their salary scale on NALP.

There are also some firms outside the V100 that pay market. But again, I think the V100 is pretty much the best place to start.

Okay. ATL had (about) 100 firms in June paying market in NYC. I reached out to NALP too. Thanks.

Do you know if the V100 includes at least half of all firms paying market in NYC? A vast majority?

Majority definitely; vast majority as defined by 80+ish, you'd have to count. It kind of seems like you should be focusing on exams and not this.

Seconding this. Not sure what exactly OP is hoping to accomplish. I can't see any benefit to trying to improve on ATL's list. Especially not for a first-semester, grades-less 1L.

Vault is very helpful. NALP has 121 NYC firms, and it only includes "bigger firms." Apparently if you're looking for "market," you've got about 100 firms to look at. I had no idea. Now I know.

Hm, if I choose to spend some of my down time drinking tea and perusing NALP instead of drinking alcohol and perusing social media, I don't think you should worry about me. But I do appreciate the sincerity.
