First official report I have seen that the current administration plans on eliminating the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (as well as extending IBR/PAYE to 12.5% of income over 30 years).

Real bummer for those in/interested in public service jobs, but not entirely unexpected. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not this proposal will make it through congress or when it will take affect if it does?

There is some hope I suppose. This administration couldn't pass gas atm, so something like this, which isn't even a priority, is not a sure thing.

If it was passed, since it affects so many lawyers I can't imagine they would all take it sitting down. Dunno if there is a legal argument for them and 1Ls who choose law school on the premise they would have this program, but if there is they will find it. Plus since there are a lot of lawyers in government there could be a sizable blowback from sympathetic or current plsf lawyers.

For 0Ls this is definitely something to keep in mind. I know it affects my calculus for next year's cycle. Especially since my preference is gov work.

Edit: shouldn't this be in Choosing a law school or Financial aid, if not the main forum section instead? People picking LSs now need to read this.
