You "want the people"?

Come on man, you're just another know nothing kid trying to figure out what the hell proximate cause is alongside all the other know nothing kids.

Life is way too short to care about this stuff

It's pretty common in my experience.

The people who like to play dress up are usually K-JDs who haven't yet realized that wearing a suit everyday sucks.

Yep, I want to work with people that I can count on to get their work done.

If life was too short to care about this stuff, none of us would be in top-law-schools.com is short. Which is why I try to stay positive and happy.

How do you plan to dress nicely at Texas, RancidSumo? It will be hot as hell and fedoras really trap in the heat.

I don't think every class has a dude that wears a fedora every day, just class of 2017

I've never said that people need to dress up, just that they should dress nicer than gym clothes. There are tons of options from jeans and polos in cooler months to light cotton and linen in the summer.

Whose opinion/what outcome do you care about?

Clothing in class is highly unlikely to influence your job prospects. As a professor, I do respond more positively, at least initially, to students who dress well (but not weirdly well, I mean, it's not work) versus students who show up in sweats, largely because it signals to me that they care about the class. But it doesn't affect grading and honestly, after the semester is over, while I can remember a few of the students who dressed appropriately nicely, I don't remember who showed up looking like they just rolled out of bed.

So really do whatever you want.

Here's a happy medium: Collect t-shirts from as many student organizations as possible. That way, you can dress comfortably and still support your law school

This may be out of context, but didn't really think a new thread should be created (sorry OP).

Is it okay for girls to wear shorts to class? Not like daisy dukes or anything, but shorts that come up to the mid thigh (can find in banana, lily, loft, etc) like in the pic below:

http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/pr ... =214470022

My area is scorching hot right now, and I cannot see myself wearing jeans or any kind of pants everyday. I know dresses are prob the best bet, but shorts are super comfortable.

Well it's okay for girls to wear shorts to class, but I'd really suggest sticking with dresses or skirts. Waaaaay too difficult to flash the prof to avoid the cold call if you're wearing shorts.

0L's, you're overthinking this. If you want to be immediately perceived as a gunner, go right ahead and dress up for class. I judge people a lot more if they wear a dress shirt and tie to class (and they didn't come from work) compared with someone in gym clothes. Wear what you want with two considerations: 1. don't look like a slob & 2. Don't smell.

The ones who dress nicely can leave a lasting impression.

Isn't rolling out of bed and dragging your ass to class better than staying home and doing jigsaw puzzles all day? Even if it means you look like total crap? Who really cares what other people wear to school? Why so many questions? Now my head is reading everything with an upward inflection?
