I'm not saying people who don't have WE aren't professional. I'm saying that if it is curved, it could imply that because 70% are ensured a P regardless of how professional they are.

Personally I had an interviewer go class-by-class on my transcript.

My fed lit instructor said on the first day of class that he was going to "spread the Hs around so that almost everyone got one and so that less people would be disappointed." He mentioned that they made this change so that everyone would go into OCI with at least "a H or two."

I guess it could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your point of view.

As someone with substantial work experience, I'm pretty confident that I'm one of the less professional people in our class. I'm not sure how much of a correlation exists between work experience and law school "professionalism" -- the K-JD's are definitely, by and large, way less mature, but I don't think that necessarily translates to a FedLit classroom.

If I had to bet on it, I'd guess that the strongest predictor of the "professionalism" grade will be an inverse correlation with the other grades. It will be the consolation prize for people who sucked at writing and arguing. I'm sorry, for the people who were "minimally exceptional" at writing and arguing.

Let's be real. Some people definitely sucked. I know that I, at least, will fall in the "sucked at writing" category.

This seems reasonable. My Fed Lit instructor said the same thing about "spreading the Hs" around when explaining the grading change. However, if their primary concern is making sure everyone has an H or two going into OCI, I think the better option would've been just to relax the curve (since our curve is by far the harshest of HYS anyway-take note, 0Ls), at least for FedLit/LRW.

Can someone explain to me which fed lit grade is which? Is the winter grade professionalism?

Mine are labeled as "Practice," "Methods," and "Coursework" on transcript (although I have no grades for them yet). I'm sure the syllabus explains which is which if you go back and take a look.

Coursework / winter grade is briefs.

Practice is professionalism

Methods is oral arg.

I'm sure about the first and 80% on the second two

I'll confirm that the "spread the grades" idea for Fed Lit got killed. Either that or they softened the curve. Good news in my opinion.

Is there a SLS student willing to show me around campus on Thursday afternoon (today)or Friday ? I am currently in SF for the week interviewing for jobs. Please message me; it would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to pay for a meal or drinks!

Lots of free food, I recall a reception or two with free drinks.

We had good pickup basketball games every day too. That was basically how I spent my time (eating or playing ball)

Also available if HankBashir isn't. Although if HankBashir is who I think he is, you'll get some real talk. And I realize that if I'm totally off base with who HankBashir is, he's going to find it hilariously funny.

Every time I've seen your name I've thought about Deep Space 9. Any relation?

Extracurricular/social activities you enjoyed/regretted/regretted not participating in during your 1L year? I don't want to overextend myself and I have a couple in mind already but I'm just interested to hear what y'all experienced.
